New Recruits Swell Iraqi Police Ranks

Coalition Enhanced Police Training Team Pleased With Effort
Baghdad

The overall expansion and growth of the Iraqi National Police and the Iraqi Police in Baghdad has reached an all time high.  There are new recruits being trained each week, and the overall quality of the police in Iraq is being raised each month considerably.

Coalition Military Police Transition teams are taking stock, and assessing improvements across Iraq in the number of Iraqi Police and the quality of officers now standing duty watches.  Coalition Forces are pleased that the Iraqi National police is slowly being able to change to a systems type approach.  This transition has been gradual and not without its bumps and barriers, but is slowly becoming the approach used in Iraqi Policing.

The Police Enhanced Transition team is the new systems approach being taught to the Iraqi Police. This approach accompanies the rule of law approach that is being implemented at the police station level.

The coalition 18th Military Police enhanced police transition team has members from logistics, communications, military police, and personnel and has leaders that are focused to sustain slow positive change in the Iraqi Police Forces in Baghdad.

“We are working together to help the leadership support their stations and take responsibility,” said Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Lombardo.  Colonel Lombardo is the 18th MP ePTT Operations Officer.

“We work with the Iraqi leadership to send the proper personnel, the right individuals to the right posts in the Iraqi Police system,” said Colonel Lombardo.  The new approach to policing is being implemented throughout the Iraqi National Police, not just in the Baghdad section.
