What to Expect in National Guard Basic Training

The United States National Guard is a division of the military which has been created to help protect the United States in case of an attack. These attacks can come at any time and they can be from threats both foreign and domestic. This is why the training of the National Guard soldier is very important to maintaining the safety and security of the American people. Here is some of what you can expect when you go through basic training.
 

Recruit Sustainment Program

 

The RSP is a program which is instituted for those recruits who are not able to ship out right away. You will go through a program which will teach you the basics of military life including the proper way to salute, forms of address, the different ranks and insignias in the Army, mental and physical prep, Military history, and how to tell military time. This program is designed not only to get you ready for basic training. It is to maintain your intent to join the National Guard.

Going Through Training

 

Once you have gone through an initial welcome to the National Guard Basic Training you will go through three phases of Basic Combat Training. You will go through Phase 1 – Red Phase – for 3 weeks.
