The Navy mess management specialist plays an important role in maintaining the health and well-being of Navy personnel. This specialist is primarily responsible for ordering, preparing and serving food. Other duties include:
- Preparing menus
- Maintaining records for food supplies
- Budgeting
- Managing personnel living quarters.
Training
Nearly every Navy enlisted soldier undergoes eight weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Navy activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization.
