| Job Description |
The Navy Boiler Technician plays an important role in keeping the Navy mobile and maintaining overall working conditions at sea and on land. This specialist is primarily responsible for operating equipment that produces steam for propulsion engines and steam-driven electric power generators. Duties also include:
- Testing and keeping an inventory of supplies for fuel and water
- Maintaining boilers, pumps and related machinery
Training
Nearly every Navy enlisted soldier undergoes eight weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Navy activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization.
