Job Description
The Marine audiovisual officer plays an important role in ensuring effective communications for the Marine. This officer is primarily responsible for producing motion pictures, videotapes and television and radio productions.



Training

To become an officer in the Marines, you must be a current student or graduate of a four-year college or university. You must also complete an extensive training officer course, which may vary in length depending upon your specialty. There are four main pathways to becoming a commissioned officer:

- U.S. Naval Academy

- Officer Candidate School and Officer Training School

- Reserve Officers' Training Corps

- Direct appointments

An indirect path is through the Enlisted Commissioning Programs.



Helpful skills

The ideal candidate for a Marine audiovisual officer should:

- Be a U.S. citizen and at least 19 years old

- Have a four-year degree

- Show self-discipline, initiative, confidence and intelligence

- Be physically fit

- Be able to handle stressful situations and make decisions swiftly
