| Job Description |
The Marine fiscal officer plays an integral role in maintaining Marine efficiency. This officer is primarily responsible for managing financial details. Duties include:
- Directing budgets
- Accounting
- Setting financial policies
Training
To become an officer in the Marines, you must be a current student or graduate of a four-year college or university. You must also complete an extensive training officer course, which may vary in length depending upon your specialty. There are four main pathways to becoming a commissioned officer:
- U.S. Naval Academy
- Officer Candidate School and Officer Training School
- Reserve Officers' Training Corps
- Direct appointments
An indirect path is through the Enlisted Commissioning Programs.

The ideal candidate for a Marine fiscal specialist should
- Be a U.S. citizen and at least 19 years old
- Have a four-year college degree in accounting, finance or related fields
- Show self-discipline, initiative, confidence and intelligence
- Be physically fit
- Be able to handle stressful situations and make decisions swiftly
