| Job Description |
The Air Force air traffic control operations apprentice is an integral member in ensuring success in battle as well as the safety of Air Force personnel. This specialist is primarily responsible for working on the team that provides the safe and orderly flow of aircraft traffic. The range of duties includes:
- Guiding aircraft during good and bad weather
- Using two-way radios
- Providing emergency assistance to aircraft
- Relaying pilot reported weather conditions
- Coordinating with military and civilian air traffic centers
Training
Nearly every Air Force enlisted soldier undergoes six weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Air Force activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization.
