Job Description
The Air Force security officer is integral in the safety and defense of all Air Force personnel. This officer is primarily responsible for leading, managing and directing security force activities related to weapons systems and resource security, law enforcement and investigations, air base defense, industrial security and combat arms. Duties include:
- Managing patrols
- Leading and directing tactical drills
- Organizing and implementing battle procedures and other military defensive operations

Training
To become an officer in the Air Force, you must be a current student or graduate of a four-year college or university. You must also complete an extensive training officer course, which may vary in length depending upon your specialty. There are four main pathways to becoming a commissioned officer:
- U.S. Air Force Academy
- Officer Candidate School and Officer Training School
- Reserve Officers' Training Corps
- Direct appointments
An indirect path is through the Enlisted Commissioning Programs.

- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have a four-year degree or diploma from an accredited program
- Show self-discipline, initiative, confidence and intelligence
- Be physically fit
