The Marine public affairs specialist plays an important role in effective communications. This specialist assists in contact between the Marine Corps and the public and media. Duties include:
- Gathering and writing news stories, historical reports and broadcast material for dissemination
- Conducting community relations projects
- Assisting in the operations of the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service
Training
Every Marine learns to become a rifle expert first. This is an integral part of the 13 weeks you'll spend in basic training, which is one of the most intense training course for any military operation. After basic, you'll attend military occupational specialty training, which varies in length depending on your specialty.
