| Job Description |
The premier band apprentice is an integral member in enhancing the ceremonies and events sponsored by the Air Force. This specialist is first a musician and then a leader of musicians. Duties may include:
- Performing in one of the Air Force musical groups
- Preparing individual musical parts from the full score
- Acting as a drum major for marching bands
- Managing and issuing music
- Scheduling rehearsal times
- Making minor repairs to musical equipment
Training
Nearly every Air Force enlisted soldier undergoes six weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Air Force activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization.

The ideal candidate for an Air Force premier band apprentice should:
- Be proficient on at least one musical instrument
- Be able to lead other musicians
- Have some computer skills |
