| Job Description |
The Air Force airfield management apprentice helps ensure the safety of personnel and maintain operational efficiency. This specialist is primarily responsible for operating, managing and inspecting airfields. Duties include:
- Monitoring airfield construction
- Operating vehicles such as trucks
- Using or assigning personnel to use equipment to ensure clear airfields, such as snowplows
- Issuing notices regarding flight hazards or restrictions
- Checking flight plans and messages to air control facilities
- Maintaining flight-planning displays
Training
Nearly every Air Force enlisted soldier undergoes six weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Air Force activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization.
