The Air Force bioenvironmental engineering apprentice plays an important role in ensuring the health and well-being of personnel. This specialist is primarily responsible for surveying and evaluating workplace environments and recommending any necessary changes. Duties include:
- Using specialized survey instruments and equipment
- Collecting samples
- Evaluating hazards, such as exposure to toxic material
- Monitoring disposal of hazardous material
Training
Nearly every Air Force enlisted soldier undergoes six weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Air Force activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization.
