The Coast Guard information systems technician is an integral member of the team providing effective communications. This specialist is primarily responsible for establishing and maintaining systems affecting voice data and video information. This includes work on hardware and software.
Training
Nearly every Coast Guard enlisted soldier undergoes eight weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Coast Guard activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization. To become a Coast Guard information systems technician, you must undergo additional training at an IT school.
