| Job Description |
The Coast Guard yeoman is an important member of the human resources management team. This specialist consults and works with personnel on issues ranging from career advice to retirement. The yeoman may have responsibilities in:
- Working with payroll certification and delivery
- Preparing military travel orders
- Arranging transportation
- Preparing correspondence
- Maintaining files and administrative records
Training
Nearly every Coast Guard enlisted soldier undergoes eight weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Coast Guard activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization. To become a Coast Guard yeoman, you must either undergo an additional six weeks of training.
