The Coast Guard health services technician provides a valuable facet in ensuring the health and well-being of personnel. This specialist provides routine and emergency health care services on shore or at sea. The technician could have duties in diagnostic testing, X-rays, pharmaceutical medications, surgical procedures or many other areas.
Training
Nearly every Coast Guard enlisted soldier undergoes eight weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Coast Guard activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization. To become a Coast Guard health services technician, you must undergo an additional 13 weeks of training in a variety of disciplines.
