| Job Description |
The National Guard counterintelligence agent is essential to gathering needed information about the enemy and potential battlegrounds. These responsibilities are tied to effective communications necessary for successful National Guard operations. Duties include:
- Studying essential material, such as aerial photographs and foreign troop movements and codes
- Operating radios to intercept enemy communications
- Investigating needs for security
- Processing, preparing and distributing counterintelligence reports
- Supporting the efforts of antiterrorism operations
- Maintaining counterintelligence systems
- Serving as a liaison between National Guard and civilian units
Training
National Guard training usually is scheduled to accommodate a member’s civilian life, whether it is for the job or school. Each member first attends Initial Entry Training. After basic training, a solider then reports for Advanced Individual Training, which may vary in length depending on your specialty. Training continues for one drill weekend each month and one annual training period, which is usually two weeks in the summer.
