Job Description
Graphic artwork for publications and other visual material is handled by a National Guard multimedia illustrator. This specialist is primarily responsible for supervising, planning or operating multimedia imaging equipment to produce visual displays and illustrations. Duties include:
- Creating graphics supporting National Guard combat and noncombat operations
- Generating computer graphics
- Developing ideas for illustrations and then creating them
- Helping instructors and other creative personnel by designing artwork for their use
- Drawing cartoons for filmstrips and animation
- Maintaining related equipment and vehicles

Training
National Guard training usually is scheduled to accommodate a member’s civilian life, whether it is for the job or school. Each member first attends Initial Entry Training. After basic training, a solider then reports for Advanced Individual Training, which may vary in length depending on your specialty. Training continues for one drill weekend each month and one annual training period, which is usually two weeks in the summer.
