Job Description
Playing an essential role in the judicial system is the National Guard paralegal specialist. This person assists judges, lawyers and unit commanders regarding legal work in diverse areas such as international law, contract law and defense and judicial legal services. Duties include:

• Researching legal decisions and National Guard regulations

• Processing legal claims and appeals

• Preparing related records and documents



Training

National Guard training usually is scheduled to accommodate a member’s civilian life, whether it is for the job or school. Each member first attends Initial Entry Training. After basic training, a solider then reports for Advanced Individual Training, which may vary in length depending on your specialty. Training continues for one drill weekend each month and one annual training period, which is usually two weeks in the summer.

• Understand the need for organized and accurate records

• Be interested in mathematics, business, typing and speech
