| Job Description |
An integral member in ensuring success on the battlefield, as well as peacetime operations, is the National Guard CH-47 Helicopter repairer. This specialist is primarily responsible for maintenance on the CH-47 helicopter, also known as the Chinook helicopter. Duties include:
- Servicing and maintaining the aircraft and related subsystems and gear
- Preparing the helicopter for inspection and assisting in the inspection
- Repairing or replacing starters, lights and other electrical parts
Training
National Guard training usually is scheduled to accommodate a member’s civilian life, whether it is for the job or school. Each member first attends Initial Entry Training. After basic training, a solider then reports for Advanced Individual Training, which may vary in length depending on your specialty. Training continues for one drill weekend each month and one annual training period, which is usually two weeks in the summer.
