| Job Description |
An integral member in ensuring air support for National Guard battlefield and peacetime operations is the National Guard aircraft powertrain repairer. This specialist is primarily responsible for maintenance on aircraft powertrain systems. Duties include:
- Replacing transmission parts, powertrain quills, and rotary wing hub and tanks
- Maintaining ground support equipment and tools
- Working on powertrain components
- Maintaining storage facilities for flammable materials
- Preparing requests for replace and repair parts
Training
National Guard training usually is scheduled to accommodate a member’s civilian life, whether it is for the job or school. Each member first attends Initial Entry Training. After basic training, a solider then reports for Advanced Individual Training, which may vary in length depending on your specialty. Training continues for one drill weekend each month and one annual training period, which is usually two weeks in the summer.
