Job Description
The safety of troops in the battlefield may depend on the proper follow-through of the National Guard unit supply specialist. As a unit supply specialist, you become an integral player in maintaining and distributing food, medicines, ammunition, and other supplies. Your responsibilities are essential to the effective and efficient management of National Guard resources and personnel. Your duties may include:

• Performing all typical warehousing tasks, such as receiving, inspecting, loading, and delivering supplies

• Compiling and maintaining an inventory

• Operating and maintaining equipment necessary in receiving and distribution, including computers and heavy machinery

• Securing a safe atmosphere within the warehouse

• Maintaining quality control, property management, and repair parts management

• Keeping accurate records



Training

National Guard training usually is scheduled to accommodate a member’s civilian life, whether it is for the job or school. Each member first attends Initial Entry Training. After basic training, a solider then reports for Advanced Individual Training, which may vary in length depending on your specialty. Training continues for one drill weekend each month and one annual training period, which is usually two weeks in the summer.

• Be interested in business administration, financial matters, and typing

• Understand the importance of accurate records
