Job Description
Assisting in the proper medical care of all Army personnel is the Army medical laboratory specialist. This specialist conducts tests on the tissue, blood and body fluids of patients. Duties include:
· Analyzing blood, blood fluid, bone, and tissue samples
· Conducting related laboratory tests
· Drawing blood from patients
· Maintaining records of test results

Training
To become an Army medical laboratory specialist, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 52 weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom and in-the-field instruction covers:
· Procedures on operating and maintaining a medical laboratory
· Information on human parasites and diseases
· Office management

Helpful skills
An ideal candidate for an Army medical laboratory specialist should:
· Be interested in biology, chemistry and algebra
· Have an aptitude for scientific and technical work
· Follow requirements precisely
