An important element in the veterinary servicing team is the Army veterinary food inspection specialist. This specialist inspects food designed for human consumption as well as completes an array of veterinary service tasks. Duties include:
· Inspecting food products
· Ensuring quality control in food handling establishments
· Inspecting sanitary conditions at military and commercial sites
· Handling samples for testing
Training
To become an Army veterinary food inspection specialist, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and nine weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom and in-the-field instruction covers:
