| Job Description |
Assisting in the overall health care of all Army personnel and their families is the Army medical corps officer. This specialist is responsible for emergency medical management in combat situations and at home base. A few of the specialties for a medical corps officer include:
· Allergist
· Anesthesiologist
· Cardiologist
· Child neurologist
· Child psychiatrist
· Clinical immunologist
Training
To become an Army medical corps officer, you must have a degree of Director of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from an acceptable school. You must also complete an officer basic leadership course, which is a basic orientation course to the Army Health Care system, Army doctrine, and basic soldier and leader skills. Training lasts between nine and 14 weeks, depending on your specialty.
