| Job Description |
The Army multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) crewmember helps ensure success on the battlefield. A crewmember on the MLRS team helps support infantry and tank units with cannon artillery. Duties include:
- Driving the MLRS launcher and resupply vehicles
- Maintaining the launcher and vehicles
- Reloading ammunition
- Mounting radio and communication systems in the vehicles
Training
To become an Army MLRS crewmember, you must complete nine weeks of basic training and four weeks and one day of advanced individual training. Classroom and in-the-field instruction covers:
- Calculation of targets
- Operation of gun, missile and rocket systems
- Techniques for handling ammunition
- Tactics related to use of the MLRS
