| Job Description |
The Army avionic radar repairer helps ensure effective communications between Army units. As a part of the communications maintenance team, this specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining switchboards, telephones and associated wire instruments and equipment. Duties include:
- Maintaining and repairing communications equipment
- Installing and repairing circuits and wiring
- Calibrating equipment
- Troubleshooting for problems in the equipment
- Rewiring and interconnecting components
Training
To become an Army avionic radar repairer, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 29 weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom instruction covers:
- Principles of electronics
- Techniques for inspecting equipment
- Use of test equipment
- Repairing radar and sonar equipment
Helpful skills
An ideal candidate for an Army avionic radar repairer should:
- Be interested in math, physics, electronics and electricity
