| Job Description |
Helping to ensure success on the battlefield is the National Guard multiple launch rocket system repairer. This specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining the Multiple Launch Rocket System, a self-propelled launcher-loader artillery weapon system. Duties include:
- Repairing and maintaining artillery and infantry weapons
- Cleaning and maintaining gyroscopes, sights and other electro-optical fire control components
- Repairing and maintaining missile mounts, platforms and launch mechanisms
Training
National Guard training usually is scheduled to accommodate a member’s civilian life, whether it is for the job or school. Each member first attends Initial Entry Training. After basic training, a solider then reports for Advanced Individual Training, which may vary in length depending on your specialty. Training continues for one drill weekend each month and one annual training period, which is usually two weeks in the summer.
