Job Description
Helping ensure effective communications is the Army visual information equipment operator/maintainer. This specialist is primarily responsible for working with equipment such as Teleconferencing VI, and for supporting Army operations with visual information equipment and systems. Duties include:
· Operating and performing maintenance on television receivers/monitors and media equipment
· Working with computer controlled video switchers and audio mixers/consoles and with synchronous generators, distribution equipment and amplifying equipment
· Operating and maintaining motion/still photo imaging equipment, closed circuit systems, visual imagery satellite, microwave, RF transmission, cable distribution systems and teleconferencing VI equipment
· Coordinating with writers, producers and directors in preparing and interpreting scripts
· Planning and designing production scenery, graphics and special effects

Training
To become an Army visual information equipment operator/maintainer, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 27 weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom and in-the-field instruction covers:
· Motion picture equipment operation and audio recording
· Scripting and special effects techniques
· Maintenance of public address sound equipment

An ideal candidate for an Army visual information equipment/operator/maintainer should:
· Be interested in creative and artistic work
· Enjoy working on a team
· Have experience in school plays or making home movies

In time, you may achieve an advanced level for an Army visual information equipment/operator/maintainer with additional supervisory and training responsibilities.
