| Job Description |
Effective communications rely heavily on the Army signals collector/analyst. This specialist is primarily responsible for detecting, locating and identifying foreign electronic intelligence. Duties include:
- Deploying, installing and operating electronic intelligence collection systems
- Searching the radio frequency spectrum to collect, identify, and record target communications and selected categories or classes of electro-optic or foreign instrumentation signals
- Operating communications equipment for signals intelligence reporting and coordination
- Performing basic signals analysis to determine signal parameters for identification and processing.
- Operating signals intelligence equipment
- Preparing logs and technical reports.
Training
To become an Army signals collector/analyst, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 11 weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom and in-the-field instruction covers practice in interpretation.
