| Job Description |
The Army depends heavily on the Army special purpose equipment repairer to ensure that all the electrical equipment is in top condition. This specialist is primarily responsible for supervising the performance of special purpose equipment maintenance. Special equipment includes power generation equipment, air conditioning/refrigeration systems and quartermaster chemical equipment. Duties include:
- Performing maintenance management activities, including production and quality control
- Providing technical guidance and training
- Maintaining, testing, and repairing electric motors in many kinds of machines
- Inspecting and repairing electrical, medical and dental equipment
- Maintaining and repairing gasoline engine systems, air conditioner electrical systems, refrigeration unit electrical systems and portable heater fuel/electrical systems
Training
To become an Army special purpose equipment repairer, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and advanced individual training. Classroom and in-the-field training focuses on maintenance and repair techniques.
