Job Description
Playing an important in ensuring both the safety of personnel and operational efficiency is the National Guard test measurement and diagnostic equipment support specialist. This soldier is primarily responsible for calibrating and repairing test, measurement and diagnostic equipment. Duties include:

• Repairing gyrocompasses
• Calibrating various instruments and equipment
• Adjusting and repairing weapon-aiming devices, such as range finders, telescopes, and ballistic computers
• Repairing watches, clocks and timers


Training
National Guard training usually is scheduled to accommodate a member’s civilian life, whether it is for the job or school. Each member first attends Initial Entry Training. After basic training, a solider then reports for Advanced Individual Training, which may vary in length depending on your specialty. Training continues for one drill weekend each month and one annual training period, which is usually two weeks in the summer.

An ideal candidate for a National Guard test measurement and diagnostic equipment support specialist should:
• Be interested in mathematics, science, electronics, machinery and shop mechanics
• Have an aptitude for problem solving
