Effective communications within and between National Guard units relies heavily on the work of the National Guard avionic communications equipment repairer. This specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining aircraft communications equipment. Duties include
• Maintaining, testing and repairing communications and testing equipment
• Installing and repairing circuits and wiring
• Calibrating and aligning equipment components
• Troubleshooting
Training
To become a National Guard avionic communications equipment repairer, you must nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 24 weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom instruction covers:
• Mechanical, electronic and electrical principles
• Preventive maintenance procedures
• Techniques regarding line installation and wiring
