| Job Description |
The work of the National Guard Avenger System repairer is essential to ensuring success on the battlefield. This specialist is primarily responsible for direct and general support-level maintenance on the Avenger System, a transportable surface-to-air missile/gun weapon system for short-range air defense protection against air and land attacks. Duties include:
• Cleaning and maintaining gyroscopes, sights and other electro-optical fire control components
• Repairing and maintaining artillery, infantry weapons, missile mounts, platforms and launch mechanisms
• Inspecting, testing and adjusting related weapons, systems and components
Training
To become a National Guard Avenger System repairer, you must nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 19 weeks and three days of advanced individual training. Classroom instruction covers:
• Mechanical, electronic and electrical principles
• Use of test equipment
• Operation and maintenance of weapons systems
