| Job Description |
The National Guard IFTE operator/maintainer helps to ensure both the safety of personnel and operational efficiency. This specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining the base shop test facility. Duties include:
• Operating and performing preventive maintenance checks and services on assigned vehicles, power generators and related equipment
• Installing supported weapon system test program sets
• Replacing defective components and performing base shop test facility alignments
Training
To become a National Guard IFTE operator/maintainer, you must nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 34 weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom instruction covers:
• Mechanical and electronic principles
• Preventive maintenance procedures
• Techniques regarding test equipment

An ideal candidate for a National Guard IFTE operator/maintainer should:
• Be interested in math, electricity, electronics and shop mechanics
• Have an aptitude for problem solving
• Be able to use related tools |
