Job Description
Keeping the supplies flowing to National Guard bases and in-the-field operations depends heavily on the efficiency of the National Guard automated logistical specialist. This soldier is primarily responsible for supervising and performing management or warehouse functions that maintain equipment records and parts. Duties include:

• Establishing and maintaining stock records, accounting records and other documents

• Reviewing and verifying quantities received

• Unloading, unpacking, visually inspecting, counting, segregating and storing incoming supplies and equipment

• Maintaining stock locator system and administering document control procedures

• Repairing and constructing fiberboard or wooden containers

• Packing, crating, stenciling, weighing and banding equipment and supplies

• Operating material-handling equipment

• Performing inventory and financial management procedures, including ordering, receiving and storing supplies



Training

To become a National Guard automated logistical specialist, you must nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 12 weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom and in-the-field instruction covers:

• Principles related to stock control and accounting

• Guidelines for handling medical and food supplies

• Regulations for storing and moving ammunition

An ideal candidate for a National Guard automated logistical specialist should:

• Be interested in math, accounting and business administration

• Understand the need for accurate records

• Be able to use related warehouse equipment
