| Job Description |
Position Description: Evaluate alteration proposals for reasonableness, practicality, feasibility, and compliance with regulatory requirements and other engineering standards; Review the plans, specs, studies, or designs submitted by PMs, contract operators, shipyards, vendors, or engineering firms; Prepare/revise/develop Work Items in accordance with command guidelines; Mechanical drawing development to support Work Item development in AutoCAD; Investigate and provide guidance on correcting Mechanical Casualties; Provide a Monthly Status Report on the number and status of activities tasked; Act as a liaison with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), USCG, Engineering Contractors, ship’s force, and PMs in support of assigned work; Conduct ship checks & other marine surveys in support of assigned work.
Other Qualifications:
• Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical and/or Marine Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of applicable Mechanical or Marine Engineering experience
• Be a US citizen
• Hold a current SECRET security clearance.
• Possess experience in the following areas:
a) Regulatory body rules, regulations, and the approval process.
b) Proficiency with AutoCAD.
c) Basic familiarity with Navy fleet and operations.
d) General engineering calculations and studies including HVAC and piping loss, pump selection, and heat balance.
e) Proficiency with MS Office desktop applications including Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Word and Project.
f) Mechanical system failure analysis
