Job Description
There are five main functions that an Army military police officer may handle:
• Maneuver and mobility support operations
• Area security operations
• Law and order operations
• Internment and resettlement operations
• Police intelligence operations
Duties in these areas may include:
• Commanding and directing military police
• Coordinating military police efforts with all levels of command
• Developing future functions and activities for military police missions
• Advising the Army Reserve and Army National Guard
These are responsibilities that help ensure the safety and well-being of all Army personnel and those under its jurisdiction.

Training
To be come an Army military police officer, you must complete the Military Police Officer Basic Course, which covers:
• Leadership skills
• Tactics and tools used by the military police
• Maintenance and operations aspects of the systems

Helpful skills
An ideal candidate for an Army military police officer should:
• Show self-discipline, initiative, confidence, and intelligence
• Be physically fit
• Be able to handle stressful situations
• Make decisions swiftly
