President Biden has signed four new bills into law affecting veterans and their families.
He said the bills were part of America’s duty to take care of military members after they serve our country.

“We prepare those we send into harm’s way, and care for their families when they’re gone, and care for them and their families when they’re home.” Biden stated.
None of the new bills were controversial, and they passed through Congress with wide support from both sides of the aisle.
The following bills were signed into law, via KKTV:
– S. 796, “Protecting Moms Who Served Act of 2021,” addresses maternal health care for veterans.
– S. 894, “Hire Veteran Health Heroes Act of 2021,” creates a program to recruit separating Department of Defense medical personnel for VA positions.
– S. 1031 is designed to launch a study of race and ethnicity disparities when it comes to VA benefits and disability ratings.
– And S. 1095, “Colonel John M. McHugh Tuition Fairness for Survivors Act of 2021,″ requires public colleges and universities that receive G.I. Bill benefits to provide in-state tuition rates for students using the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Education Assistance program.

Biden signed the new bills just weeks after the nation celebrated Veterans Day.
Lawmakers are expected to push another series of bills aimed at helping veterans as well.
Here’s more details on the bills just signed into law from Military Times:
The first bill — the Protecting Moms Who Served Act — invests $15 million in new maternity care coordination programs at VA facilities. The move requires VA officials to address gaps in care for veteran mothers as well as studies into prenatal and postpartum health.
…
The Hire Veteran Health Heroes Act will require VA leaders to work with Defense Department officials in helping separating troops with health care skills who apply for open medical jobs in veterans hospitals.
The Colonel John M. McHugh Tuition Fairness for Survivors Act will guarantee that children and spouses of veterans who die from service-connected injuries will get in-state tuition rates. The change is expected to affect about 150,000 surviving dependents, potentially saving them tens of thousands in higher education expenses each year.
The final measure will require the Government Accountability office to investigate potential disparities in VA benefit awards based on race and ethnicity. Past studies have indicated that minorities may receive lesser benefits or face additional obstacles to disability payouts than their white peers.
I like the valuable information you provide in your articles. I will bookmark your blog and check again here regularly. I’m quite certain I will learn many new stuff right here! Best of luck for the next!
Very interesting subject, thankyou for putting up. “Everything in the world may be endured except continued prosperity.” by Johann von Goethe.
I went over this web site and I believe you have a lot of fantastic information, bookmarked (:.
obviously like your website but you need to check the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to tell the truth nevertheless I’ll certainly come back again.
There are too many homeless vets. It really disturbs me when a vet attempts to purchase home with VA loans and repeatedly turnt away leaving them and family homeless or in indecent living conditions. VA loans are much harder to get then FHA just most veterans have difficult with down payments. VA loans should be molded to assist vets to enable them a decent home. Its not right when they have proof of income to afford a decent home but still turnt down
BIG STRONG TRUE ADVICE ; anyone that is rated at 70% for PTSD, should IMMEDIATELY REQUEST 100% Unemployability. After one year it switches to 100% permanent and total. You can apply for 100% SSD at the same time and even work a bit during the process. Dental and all Doctors appointments can be in the Community if you request that policy. At the VAMC, we are practice Dummies for Residents learning what they did wrong. They, nor the VA CAN BE SUED UNLESS THE GOVERNMENT AGREES. That’s for VA DOCTORS. Residents have NO ACCOUNTABILITY EVER. Choose wisely.
As well as take care all our veterans children my son is a child of a airborne Sargent and my baby is 19 and all my baby got is blood tests d sons father took me to court this is really sad on everything this has been so hard on me that I’ve had two stokes and three seizures already and I want our baby too be alright I’ve done it by myself for 29 years s that’s daron everything I was ant baby to be alright thing sheen so hard on him since me and his daddy are sickly
Alicia Alllen it been 29years whereas TRichardRene Ross had me served for blood work here inn Atlanta it’s dads d not fair
Also, if your doctor sends you for an MRI because it’s suspected that you have a broken bone, or if you get hurt and an MRI is requested to see what is going on you can get denied the MRI if orthopedics that they don’t need to acknowledge the request.
Yes, we are used as “practice dummies” by those who are just passing through, using the v.a.as a place to hide their time while waiting, because they need income, and are waiting to find a better paying position in a civilian hospital, Also quite often they don’t even have a surgeon to perform surgery, like what happened to a buddy of mine…
She was in the v.a. hospital for 7 days waiting for them to do something for her dead, returning fall bladder. They were sending her home where she was supposed call back and make another appointment knowing full well that she wouldn’t live long enough to get back there. What I couldn’t understand is the OU Medical Hospital is right next door and joined to the v a. by inside skywalks. They could have gotten a surgeon. Many of the doctors come from their too.
You don’t need to be PTSD just 70% rating from all your injuries. Put in the claim but still look for a job that can accommodate you. After a year Put in for permanent disability and add your applications that you were turned down for the job based on your injuries. You must tell the HR department that if they can’t hire you that you need a letter stating that fact that they cannot accommodate you due to your injuries. Something we Veterans need to push for is grants and loans to build your house on land you already own. The requirement right now is the house has to already be built. So you have to go outside the VA build then refinance with the VA. Also grants to start a small business, we may not be able to do a lot physically but our brains are still working and getting a 5 million dollar grant would get 1 of 5 projects out of the patent process and into production putting Veterans to work. Also I need to prove the concept on 4 other green energy projects. That would also create jobs for Veterans. My daughter who never served has a better chance of getting a grant than I do because of her sex.
Pass the bill for those veterans who serve 20 years or more that can receive the retirement benefits and the compensation
I’m 100% T&P got denied twice for SSD what am i doing wrong. Been receiving 100% since 2016
AF, whats the entire process for that ie requesting 100%, What documentation do I need to provide.
Thanks in advance
It’s never Permanent Disability, no matter how long you are on it, or what is wrong that keeps you from working. You cannot earn more than 10% of the annual IU without losing the IU benefit.
Hello, My name is Deborah Childs. I am having issues right now with this. I told the social security office about this and they are denying it. I don’t know if I should get an attorney to assist with this or what? Then they are doing this fraudulent overpayment right now as well too.
Want to know what’s F*ed up? How long has the internet and digital copies (scanning) been around and being used by the military? Exactly, that F*g long. 2012 my claim was denied because (lack of medical proof/records) no one can find my medical records for all my In-service injuries. And I never made my own copies. I start going to VA in DFW area and try to submit then but denied bc I didn’t provide more proof than what I already gave from going to the VA. And they wanted me to go to every installation I’ve been to and get documentation to provide to them and here I thought they had access to all medical systems/medical records. Recently few weeks ago I called my last army reserve station (medical unit 94th CSH) and ask for a copy of the (my) medical records they have and they tell me they never downloaded/digitized any documents. Ain’t that some shit!!?
I even got denied for PTSD and anything else that came along with having PTSD. Even a decrease in hearing and I can go on and on but I’m just so frustrated
My hearing was greatly diminished, My son would ask me why do I have the t.v. up so loud (I didn’t realize that it was loud).
For years I worked with jets on the flight lines and Carrier decks so wasn’t surprised that my hearing was affected, but when I was sent for the hearing test for my rating all I ever heard was “you’re within limits”. What the hell does that mean??!!
I think it’s just another one of the ways they prevent you from getting your compensation added to your disability claim.
Hey Bro, my story is virtually the same but different ending. For close to ten years the CA said that my records were most likely burned in a fire🔥. For that reason I was denied any health benefits. One day after many years of research, my medical records weee sent on a disc, even after clear evidence I was denied. After a HLR I was approved for benefits at a 20%rating. The V.A. Will do you wrong even after you show proof.
your supposed to keep copies of everything when you in the service. thats on you.
Contact the American Legion or. DAV for help. Once you get your benefits remember that the VA is not your friend. They will reduce your benefits if they can so don’t share info with docs afterwards. Just say ok when asked how you are doing.
Miguel, Retired Army Staff Sergeant Dixon here. You ever heard the term in the Military ” CYOA “. This means every time you went to sick call or got injured you should have requested a sick call slip, showing what you went to sick call for. I am also a Disabled Veteran 100%. When I was leaving the Military, I copied everything that I had in my position since 1979. I was on IRR for a number of years. Totally, I served 29 years, from Active Duty, Army Reserves, Army National Guard. A few soldiers were laughing at me while I was carrying around my medical documents through out-processing, while I was walking with crutches. Some of these soldiers, aren’t laughing now. Because, all my injuries, sick calls have been documented. I made 10 copies for each area of my injuries or illnesses. It was costly, anything that the VA didn’t have in their computer medical records, I had a hard copy to give. I always told the VA make a copy of what I am giving them. This way you keep them accountable for your medical records. At the end of the day, it’s your words against there’s. That’s why most Military Veterans gets DENIED with the VA, because they relied on a computer system to keep their records for them. Always, remember this. Someone as to put the information into the computer, and you can’t rely on those government staffs. Having a document in your position holds TRUTH to what you are trying to get. Miguel, I wished you the best on your journey of achieving what’s rightfully yours. I am not trying put down anyone with my comments. I just CMOA, I could not rely on sad stories that I have heard before, how the VA will deny you if you don’t have proper documentations. Anyways, good luck Miguel.
Go to the buddie system. All that is letters from anyone you served with and witnessed your injuries.
I highly recommend the American Legion. They will get and review all documents and paper work to see what needs to be done and file it for you. Do not rely upon yourself or the VA .
I am a vietnam-era retired veteran. Today I am in the process of taking college courses at 68 years of age. The veterans administration is telling me that I am not entitled to any payments because I am not dis-abled. Please direct me to assistance or/and I am asking the v. a. to update their regulations. I have served my time and there should not be a time limit on returning to college. Thanks.
I totally agree with you. I was just told the same thing last year when I tried to go back to school.
I’m a Vietnam Era USAF Veteran and I am hoping to go to college very soon
I have been retired 23 years. When I retired in 1998 after almost Twenty Two years, I only received 20% disability. I had claimed about seven aliments. Only got improve for two. I had a heart attack in December 1997, about nine months before I retired. The rest of my claims were disapproved, 10% for the heart attack and 10% for migraine headaches. One of my soldiers who only served three years and got a dishonorable discharge, got a higher percent the I did. All his disabilities came from injuries he got from his other jobs etc. I’m not mad about this, I’m Hispanic and he’s white, race had nothing to do with it. I just don’t understand how the VA operates. Did he get doctors to lie about his injuries that weren’t even gotten while he was serving his country, who knows
I don’t know either bro! I served
for 18 yrs. As a weekend soldier. I did however got Army/Vet on my driver’s license!😎
How did this guy get a thing being dishonorable something not right here
I’m fighting the VA for my back that happened on duty 3 different incidents they agree that happened on duty but still denied my service connection an it got me medically discharged cause couldn’t deploy I’ve got it in DC at a law judge appealing it so I don’t understand there thinking either

This is just my opinion, But as far as what rank, age, race or percentage you are. If you made it through basic or bootcamp I think you should be eligible for any benifits. I know for myself that basic training is where I was stripped from everything I learned up to that point of my life… Kill, Kill or be Killed is what was pounded day after day! and after service any conflict was a flash back! Hurting people you love, counting how many days spent in institutions for what? to be denied! I want to know how does anyone turn that around or off.. Now at 61 im faced with another delema. My apartment burned in a fire taking everything I own and having to start over. I’m looking for HELP in how in the hell do I start over in this world of madness? yeah, one day at a time I know. but I don’t want to rent I want to own. The thing is I can’t afford to move… What benifits do I have, wwhere do I go??
Please tell me you’ve been to MEPS just like every other soldier to pick your job and to be medically assessed if not then that’s jacked up and the military recruiting system screwed the pooch. Anyway, my point is that MEPS would’ve caught a lot of his injuries before (that’s what MEPS is for) Thank you for your service. I was Army myself M1A1 Abrams Tank Commander.
Did you see is percentage? A military person who receives a DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE from any branch doesn’t receive any benefits from the government. The person can’t own property or even vote. He is not being honest. k
All Veterans who served uor country experienced the risk of the ultramate sacarifice to keep our country a free and great nation.
Why is the government wasting so many dollars on Bullshit Programs when they should give FREE Health Care to anyone who has served with an Honarable Discharge.? Com on Mr. President and Congress step up to the plate and do the right thing.
You are 100% correct…the only thing that matters is rate of disability for that pay…retired pay is dependent on rank…
NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE!!
SEMPER FI WARRIOR
Yes, I agree! And they need to give us Dental care especially because other problems health wise are caused by oral issues
I totally Agree!!
My husband a Veteran with 20 years has 2 teeth he would LOVE TO HAVE A FULL SET OF TEETH. NOT ENOUGH $$ TO Pay for them.
Very well said my brother in arms
All v.a. benefits should be automatic instead of having to prove what is wrong or broken when the doctors can see or read what is already going on .it seems as if some get better care cause they know the system better and the way it works than others so the problem seems to be red tape political paperwork.
My father came out of the Army in 1970. He had a severe facial and head injury while serving in Vietnam. He retired, and had received a 100% disability rating at that time. I recently came across his paperwork again while trying to clean out unneeded paperwork. I keep Dad’s for sentimental reasons. I forget the exact year, but it was in the early ‘70’s still, when the government decided to redo everyone’s disability rating. My father went from 100%, to 35%, to 3% in a two year period. I remember him fighting for years to have his disability rating changed. He was 45 when he was injured. He was in several car accidents in his early 70’s, due to the metal plate in his head sliding. It was causing seizures. He finally required full-time care and the VA made me place him in a VA nursing home, not a home close to me. I, unfortunately, could not care for him myself, as he would become violent, and my children were young. He still did not get a 100% rating. After about 10 years, as his body declined, and he was put on hospice. he finally received a 100% disability rating.
Both of my sons were in the Army. They were both discharged within about 6 months apart. When my oldest son discharged, there was someone that sat down with him at a VA, and they went over everything, and his disability was approved. When my youngest discharged, there was no one to do that for him. He was told that unless he agrees to have surgery, he can’t receive disability.
Due to the 2016 CDC guidelines for chronic pain, the VA then used those guidelines to further torture our service members.
Some veterans have approached American Pain & Disability Foundation for help. One of our advocates was able to help one veteran that was going outside of the system to obtain what he needed as his life was ending. We would like to be able to help more, but we don’t know how to go into the VA, or even if they would allow us to. If there is anyone that knows, please reach out to APDF through our website http://www.americanpaindisabilityfoundation.org.
I agree race , religion ,sexual preference has nothing to do with your benifits . I started my claim back in 1997 . Did not receive my 100% rateing until 2016 . All those years of pain , and suffering working to provide for my family . I’m a white man . I met alot of black , and hispanic men who got theirs before me . I had more serious issues than them . SO SHOULD I SAY I WAS DENIED BECAUSE I’M WHITE ????? No l’m not going to . Just keep going to tour local V A Medical facility , and conplain to your provider about you service connected problems .
Brother veteran I was wounded in 1979 and didn’t get mine 100% permanent and total until 2011.
Black or white has nothing to do with it make sure you don’t vote Republican.
Your pretty stupid, VA is as corrupt as the Bidumb admin.
Maybe you have been watching too much FOX news. Either you can’t spell or you are heavily propagandized. The VA has been serving Vets for years. problem they have is certain administrations have been cutting their budget back so they can’t properly operate.
The peeps running the veterans health care are as crocked as Biden is. I don’t vote for either party due to the corruption in the federal government. as for the current corporation running the veterans administration they are nut for us veterans they are for the year end bonus’s they can. this is all true.
What makes you a so angry? did you get denied, or are you trump person. I know the V.A. has problems to be work out, but to say a fellow veteran is stupid because they don’t agree with you, well that tells a lot about you.
Whatever happened to the caregivers benefits? Applied in 2014! The senate or the house? They keep passing it around! Again, veterans and families put on the back burner!
Love the irony of using the wrong form of “you’re” to call someone stupid. I’m going to assume that was intentional and that you’re not just another slack jawed, hate filled, inbred moron.
Your words are realky harsh, because his beliefs are different from your. Let us respect each other opinions.
You say the Biden Administration is corrupt.,my question to you is as follows what would call the Thump Administration, Starting with that fool that rode a horse to work because he was in charge of the Dept. of Interior. And that list still keeps growing all the way to Trump himself .Jan.6 2020.
That in itself was a stupid comment. Are you a vet? Wake up, people asking for help, not your political opinions🎖🇺🇸🤯🤬
AMEN TO THAT
You can’t be serious!?! I’ve gotten more help from my Republican reps., senators and congressmen/women in dealing with the VA four times or more over what I’ve received from my Democrat reps, etc. Democrats only help if you’re a minority.
You sre 100 % correct.
I am surprised how quickly politics get involved into this. Let’s keep out politics with all of this. I am not happy about this political topic but to voice your political views here is the wrong platform. If you don’t like it get your butts to the voting polls next election. I was in Vietnam 65 to 66 and never applied for any claims until I retired. It took me almost 1 1/2 years to just get them to spell my name correctly. Military is too departmentalized, then another year to get all my medals I should have received. In 2005 I now have a DD-214 & 215. I started my filings. I got to 100% in about two years 20/60/80/100%. I have received great help at the V.A. here in Cleveland & Parma, Ohio. My hat is off to them. They are changing and I have mostly had good experiences.
I’m sorry friend, that has more to do with a general backlog of Claim cases. I am glad you finally got your 100%. I agree with your cry, Vote Blue, no matter who.
I’m in agreement with you vote blue .
Yes, voting blue will raise gas prices to over $10 a gallon! Wake up fool
I don’t know what not voting republican has to do with your disability. I am a republican and have not had one problem getting the disability I am due.
The worst thing we could do is to point fingers or argue among ourselves. It’s critical for all veterans to stick together regardless of any one individual factor that may cause us to be different. Comparing one veteran group to another is a losing proposition for us all . Always focus on your particular case and scream like hell to get what you deserve. Making comparisons accomplishes nothing. Don’t be fooled. Vote for the political party that has consistently done what’s best for veterans. I’ve done my own homework and without question it’s the Democrats. But you need to do your own thorough research and draw your own conclusion. Just don’t be naïve or emotional in making your choice. Deciding based on one instance is a big mistake and you will be shooting yourself up your butt.
See above.
Thank you for saying it. The government has succeeded in having Republicans and Democrats be against each other and that is the real shame. When I was in the Army I lived the way that we all were one mind and one body together. Please don’t let this continue. It doesn’t matter your race religion sex and all the superficial difference we have, cut us and we all bleed red! I agree that the biden administration and the Democrats that are now in office are placing race a priority and it shouldn’t be allowed because all it is doing is giving them the control to try and keep their base that has been getting away from them. Everyone in this country has and deserves everything that they need to succeed and prosper but it won’t happen unless we stop letting them win by continuing to decide and conquer us.
I have done research as well! You are wrong! The Republicans far out way Dems on the improvements in the VA. You are being a propaganda are of the dems with FALSE statements!
Your so right Stephen!!
Those who advocate the…other…party need to STOP watching the likes of MSNBC, CNN, NBC.
Sad with those who seem so easily….duped.
Bunch loosers running Va
Guy’s we as veterens have to stick together. I didn’t waste time complaining, instead I spent time looking for someone who could help me. Just by talking to other veterens who were succesful in getting their claims approved and how or who helped them. If you are wasting time talking verses spending time reseaching and using the resources that are availible to your advantage you will always feel like you or not being heard. Filing claims properly has nothing to do with race! Let’s stop contributing to the division of our country and help each other get the benefits we deserve! The color of my skin didn’t matter, nor did the color of the skin of the people who helped complete my claims! The goal still remains the same!
To the gentleman who served in the middle fifties, where did you serve? If it was in Korea you may qualify if you have a claim. Korea was a designated war zone until 1964.
The official Department of Veterans Affairs designation of South Korea as a “War Zone” begins June 27 1950 and extends through January 31, 1955. I am in possession of VA correspondence relating to my successful claim which which covered active duty: 1955 to 1983. I filed my first claim on the day after I retired in 1983.almost 40 years ago. Several times during retirement I have requested and received increases to the original award. My best advice is for all veterans is to seek assistance from the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
To the gentleman
I am writing this for my father as I went through all his issues. He had surgery when he was in the military. He had a large lump on the back of his head just below his skull. When the Air Force surgeon removed it he heard him say it was much larger than he had expected. The surgeon used some type of electrical device to stop the areas that were still bleeding. When the surgeon touched the bleeding areas with this device electricity shot thru my dad’s entire body, especially his brain. The surgeon asked my dad what was wrong and my dad told him what was happening. The surgeon said he had to continue to stop the rest of the bleeding. He did this three more times before he was done. At one point my dad could not see but then his vision came back after a few minutes. It turned out the table was brand new and my dad was the first person to have surgery on it. He had filed a complaint and the following investigation turned up that neither my dad nor the table were grounded so the electricity went thru my dad’s body. During rest of my dad’s service (He was in for 25 years and was at his 15 year mark) he started to have severe headaches, depression, muscle spasms and other issues. My dad filed for disability and was only given 10 percent for headaches and 10 percent for depression. Things became so bad he could not hold down a job. He was only 47 years old. Most of the medications did nothing to help. My dad saw a psychiatrist and she did everything she could. She thought outside the box and tried medications not normally used to treat depression, I took my dad to see a neurosurgeon that was considered one of the best in the state. He took x-rays, a CRT and other tests. He told my dad there was nothing he could do, He had so much scar tissue from the botched surgery. He had brain and nerve damage that could not be repaired. He said if he tried to remove the scar tissue he would either be paralyzed from the neck down or he would die during the surgery, My dad had a wonderful lady from the local American Legions help him with his claim.. She said the ONLY way to get what any veteran deserved was to carefully read the reason why any increase was denied. I cannot remember what my dad said the regulation was but they, the VA, MUST follow this to the letter, It outlines every ailment that qualifies for a disability and the wording for each percentage. Your wording in the medical papers you file with your appeal MUST state the wording in this regulation as close as possible or you will never get an increase. I know you’re saying to yourself “How can you do this?” Most of the time when you visit the doctor they ask what is wrong. That is when you state how severe the issues are. It is not easy but if you can remember why you were denied an increase then it will help with your claim. You cannot lie as the medical exam will not support something that is not true. It is sad but it all comes down to a word game. It took over seven years for my dad to get 100 percent and he did receive a back payment. This happened because the American Legions lady kept on top of it. I hope this helps some of you.
God bless you for sharing and your Dad for defending us all.
I was told in the beginning of my claim to be very careful in what I said …. to ANYONE. Go in for a compensation interview and you are following the examiner (doctor) down the hallway to the ‘interview’ room:
Doctor: So, how ya doin’ today, John? (over his shoulder and speaking casually)
Patient: Oh, pretty good. Thank you for asking.
Big mistake. That goes on record and can easily cost you your claim. Some of the best advice I got from other veterans who knew better.
Typical VA! LOTS OF SHOW BUT LITTLE ACTION!
I been fighting the VA since 1989 for my 100% disability due to neurophy issues in my legs, and still can not get them to increase it. they just do not care.
God bless you and your Father. His service is much appreciated. I am thankful for my AmVets rep.
Ethnicity disparities? I fought over 8 yrs, I know some fight more, to get what I deserved. I personally know 11 other veterans who, way after I started appealing, started the process AND received their 100% p&t well before I received mine. My disabilities are far more advanced and pronounced. Oh yeah, I never mentioned my race or theirs…. I’m Caucasian and they are not. But here’s the thing, I’m glad they got what they earned. I never did bitch or complain. The real disparity are the ones who get it and don’t deserve it….I know a few, one’s related to me.
let’s talk race inequality. I had my dominant hand nearly tore off, Which in turn disabled my whole arm and hand, cracked my pelvis right behind my boys from the mooring line whiplashing back at me, and crushed a vertebrae. I laid in the hospital for 2 1/2 months. My fingers are crooked, my tendon on the middle finger is torn off at the knuckle hinge and the ring knuckle is really bad. 10 percent.. 38$ a month
another veteran hurt his knees in military while playing basketball. He received 40 percent. 350 a month.
I am white he was black …yeah lets talk about race.
Whoever put your paperwork in did it badly, it took me 5 years to get my first payment and I was blown up in a firefight. Keep submitting paperwork and they’ll backpay you.
Let’s talk about 10% it’s not $38.00 per month! Maybe you should check the disability pay scale. I joined the Marines in 65 & my base pay was around $80 per month. When did you get your 10%? There is a scale for disability pay!!
The most thing i care about is black veteran who served and cannot received disability benefit as white veteran when they are injury, I am a black veteran and injury my back and broke my leg and right hand in duty and have been fighting over ten years for my v.a benefit, when a white veteran broke his finger and got his benefit with in a few month if this the case no black American should not served on day in the united states arm force, America do not care about their veteran
I find it just as difficult being white. I have been trying for 10 years for bad ankles. I see just as many black veterans in the VA health facilities as whites.
have you reached out to American legions? DAV but they don’t do a though job. Purple heart association. and it does help if you told them while you here in there and it is in your records. i fought 20 years won and they said no back pay.. CROOKS they are.
My husband got back pay for a claim he filed, for this claim he received back pay from the first day he filed to the day they paid this claim. And then an increase in his disability. He has never had any problems with the VA!!! He is very happy with the service he receives.
I agree, I am a black veteran, I was a paratrooper in the early 80s / I hurt my feet, legs, knees and back, I live with pain, and still fighting for the right evaluations
It’s not color It’s service at your facility and how you apply for help, go to the federal building to submit paperwork and have all your medical records
Bull Shit. From the way your letter reads you probably did not convey your injuries in a coherent manner. I would get help from the VFW OR American Legion. I t took me 2 yrs and a letter from my Congressman, but I got everything I was owed from the first date I applied. Good luck and try to understand every problem is racially motivated. That cry is getting very old. Good luck.
You sound completely illiterate, if you cannot speak or write proper English, you probably won’t have much luck with your claim. I am so tired of black people using race as excuses. Every VA has mostly incompetent people or not enough people. That is how corrupt governments work.
Who are you to judge? What makes you an expert on if this man is illiterate or not? D o you know him or issues that he may be experiencing? Race may have played a part in his case. You don’t know. I get so upset when fellow vets put other views down. No matter what, we ALL served in the military. Making us all a unit.
If they want to take care of war campaign veterans, then what they should do is make those veterans tax exempt. This country does not take care of the civil servants and military veterans that put their lives on the line to protect us in so many ways. Why must you be disable to get some sort of benefit? I think not having to pay taxes is a small price to pay for an individual that was in a war. Or at least a 50% Tax exemption, something.
Amen now try to tell those crooked congressmen that
Forgive me for jumping in here with a different subject but I can’t see how to add a comment. My daughter is married to a man who has been estranged from her for 16 years. He retired from the reserves. Once they finally get legally divorced does she have a right to some of his disability? They’ve been married 25 years.
That is a question only an attorney may be able to answer, I say this because I think it may very from state to state. When I got divorced from my first wife (she cheated on me) we were married for eight years. She was furious because I could get part of her Civil Service retirement but she got none of mine. The reason was we had to be together for ten years before she got any of my retirement. I was living in California at the time. Unfortunately, I cannot remember if this was a federal law or a state law. Maybe someone else here can answer that.
My question is, What do you mean by asstranged and how long has this been the case? Secondly, if they don’t have childen, why is she inquiring about his benefits?
The benefits Vets receive even when at 100% is barely enough to get by.
Make sure she gets a JAG officer involved. The 20/20/20 rule applies for many and did for me. My ex served 36 years in the Reserves, we were married 33 of those years while he was serving in the Reserves. I was able to get the benefits and per divorce, 1/2 of his military reserve retirement pay, plus was able to keep my Tricare Retirement Reserve health benefits. The attorney I used is civilian now, but he was JAG when he served and was able to file all the appropriate papers the 1st time around.
All veterans should be tax exempt
I agree Gary, especially after 20+ years service.
Exactly, Gary!!
I was able to attend college tuition free using the original GI Bill. Of course this bill was changed to eliminate the total tuition payment, including books and a living stipend.
I have always felt that offering up my life in the service of my country should entitle me to a tax free life after service.
This government talks a good game but they don’t come through with what they promise. Sad but true!🥲

When I was first diagnosed with my disability I could walk a little bit over a year it gotten worse where I had to use a cane now it has gotten to a point where they came Does not do any good I have to use crutches now. So my disability has worsened over the years to where I cannot walk without the use of apparatuses. So since it has Worsen should my benefit increase? I have tried to get them to see that my disability has worsened but refused to increase my benefits.
Go back to the doctor that saw you and sent the report to the VA in order for you to get your disability. He can show them that your disability has increased. It’s a thought.
Hi
Have you tried considering claiming your ‘additional’ conditions as ‘secondary to your current svc-conn disability/ies.?
Check if these are ‘prevalent’ as a direct result of your current disability.
How about filing for ‘pension’ vs an increase…especially if it pays more than your current disability %?
Check the x-rays, MRIs, etc for completeness, types, results, diagnoses. You HAVE to have diagnosis for the condition/s you are claiming..period.
Don’t give up. Even if you don’t have all your documentations, at least START your claim online TODAY…you have up to one year to submit your supplemental information..
Once approved then you’ll be likely to have the ‘start date vs ‘submit’ date used as your ‘effective’ date-worst case.
I am a surviving spouse of a 100% disabled veteran, when I tried to collect on his life insurance even though I have my certificate they said there was a clerical error and the premium had stoped being take out 6 months before he passed. Which coincided with our youngest turning 18 so we did not know.
Is their Life Insurance for a 100% Disabled Veteran? My e-mail is [email protected]
Yes call the v.a insurance dept. and ask for the form.
I served from 3/18/56 to 5/17/58 I do not know what benifis I’m entitled to since there was no war activity.
I have heard the a benefits for Veteran who have problem keeping a spouse. I been married four time and like to know if my percentage of disability can be increased.
I don’t know why it doesn’t come automatically to all Veterans, I have read many, many times about VA Administrators actually stealing funds from many VA accounts and afterwards they were not let go or to be politically
correct they weren’t terminated they were just given another post and was forgotten about and we never received any of the funds that were stolen. I am a 100% disabled veteran, and it has gotten to me not being treated for my injuries and ailments that I have received over the years. The PCP outright refuse to treat me for my problems and I have no recourse, no one will listen and if they let you talk they IGNORE YOU!!!!
