Generally speaking, your physical conditions, weight, and height are all considered when determining your eligibility. Before you head off to Basic Combat Training you will be tested by the National Guard to measure your level of fitness. The Army Physical Fitness Test is used to ensure that everybody is tested the same.
This test is not as complicated as some people believe. It measures how many sit-ups and push-ups you can do in a set period of time, as well as how long it takes to run two miles.
Most people are able to pass the physical requirements of the National Guard. This is not the case with everybody, though. If you have any questions or are worried that you may not be eligible, speak with a recruiter as soon as possible.
