The local VA people are great. The idiots in Washington are the problem. For example: I live in a remote part of Maine. The CBOC in Caribou has been terrific. We lobbied for an expanded CBOC and after two years we were told that a new CBOC was coming. At the same time we learned that the contract had already been awarded and the clinic was moving to Presque Isle. They are now over two years behind schedule and are locating the clinic in the worst location for access. We were very upset especially when we learned that the contractor awarded the contract had made a large contribution to a local senator and Cary Medical Center contacted the contractor via mail offering to give the land to the VA if they left the CBOC on its campus… The contractor did not have the courtesy to reply. For more than two years we have been driving past the building that will house the new CBOC and there has not been a single sign of any activity at the site. If the idiots in DC want to improve the VA’s reputation maybe they should consult the local people before they make the decision (we were told that all real estate decisions are made by a committee in DC and ask for no input from the local people–I should also add that I have communicated with a number of employees at the Caribou CBOC and they too are unhappy about the move).
Maybe its time to replace some of the life-long beaurocrats who run the VA in DC.

I am in Montana, but it is closer for me to go to Washington State and attend the VA Hospital there in Spokane, Washington. I have a great Doctor and she is handling my needs the best she can.
However, the Administration Staff at the top are making members who travel for appointments wait over 4 months or longer to receive their mileage claims. Either there is a breakdown in staff and the OPI is afraid to request more staff or she or he needs more training.. No member of the armed services should have to wait this long. I was told by a staff member there at VA,. Washington, in Spokane they are SIX (6) months behind on paying claims and only have one person doing the work a half day.
When you do get a paid claim there is no paperwork to follow about your claim the money just shows up in your account if you are lucky. So you do not know which claim they are paying. Nor do you know what the correct mileage amount versus the money they are paying.
We do need someone to check into this problem sooner than later.

What I can’t stand is the time laspe in treatment. You see a VA doctor and he says you need to have test or x-rays done but it takes 3 weeks to get it scheduled. In the real world if a doctor says you need test or r-rays you normally have them the same day. I think they are hoping we die before we get taken care of.
My PTSD from combat has been in my medical records for over 30 years and they just kept sending me to srinks and giving me more drugs. As for getting my 100% I had filled 6 times and was denied so I finally got a lawyer and got it approved. They say you get your benifits back to the day you filed but it took me over 10 years to get approved and they only paid me for 1 year back payment.

I have been getting these horrible rashes on my legs, arms, back, hands..etc when I was in the Persian Gulf 92-94. I have been living with this for over 25 years. I am currently in the loop hole of claiming VA disability. All of my service records show PTSD and severe skin rashes and continuing to this day. I mean this stuff looks like meatloaf all over my skin. Doctors can’t treat this and I have tried every course of action to relieve this pain. Of course us veterans know what this crap is. Then my command sent us to Mogadishu so we can have nightmares of the crap we experienced over there. Now I’m just a shell of a man who struggles with certain noises that set me off, and being medicated for PTSD for the rest of my life… Awesome! I can honestly say, I have tried so many medications for my PTSD in the past that caused me more harm than good. Not to mention my wife not being able to sleep because I’m constantly scratching my arms or back… wherever these damn rashes decide to go. I’m exhausted just rehashing my experience with the military. I knew what I signed up for but if veterans have medical conditions or injuries…they need to make sure we are taken care of!!

I do not think the each state is the problem. The VA itself is the problem. Going through my disability claims I (and my lawyers) have learned so much about how the Mickey Mouse Corporation (VA Disability claims division) takes advantage of veterans by doing everything in their power to deter veterans from claims OR using the red tape to take advantage of veterans who are NOT attorneys and when they do not send in a certain form that they will dismiss the claim in its entirety.
It is a shame that the veterans who truly NEED the disability (not the ones who are abusing the system) end up spiraling down in mental health and the VA does not care.

It seems that the government hates its vet’s. I was in service Navy for 6 years. If you are an older vet, in my 60 ‘s, you really do not get heard. I just had eye surgery and both of my eyes have stitches across my eye lids, that I should have had antibiotics, but I’m allergic to most, but there are some that I’m not. But they prescribed an antibiotic that I am allergic to. The pharmacy at the VA hospital, didn’t give me a replacement, so no antibiotics for me. I was to have the stitches removed 9 days ago. Implore those who want to join military service or are thinking of joining not to, at least in this light, woke ideology will save our current generation from making the same mistakes we did by serving this country. They will be sparred from begging the VA for years on end for services and benefits they should automatically be granted to them. Do not let your loved one suffer in todays military until your politicians increase our benefit amounts and grant ALL veterans their desired benefits with minimal evidence to be qualified with no examiner (who is probably biased and for the VA) to make an indirect determination on your benefits. Let your politicians go to war, do not enlist and do not let your loved ones enlist, stand up for your loved ones and save them pain down the road.

First off, I’m an 85 year old 30 year retiree and have found Medicare (primary) and TRICARE for Life (secondary). to provide excellent care at virtually no cost except Rxes. I have just recently taken advantage of the VA services in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and been completely satisfied. They gave me a physical, provided hearing aides from a Dr. in my local area, sent me about 4 months worth of supplies for my incontinence due to prostate cancer and are in the process of getting me an electric power chair and a standard wheel chair because mobility is severely limited. I also have some insight in what the VA is trying to do. I have two daughters and a granddaughter who work for the company that has contracted with the VA to get the word out, especially in rural areas, on the services the VA provides and particularly the PACT act. I am truly sorry that so many vets have had bad experiences with the VA but based on the time and energy my ladies are expending I would recommend that they keep pounding on the door,
Why do we have to buy into Medicare? Our injuries come from military service and know you make us pay private insurance who donate money back to politicians. Criminal.

Got DD214 at the end of that time, honorable discharge. Last time i went to Salisbury, NC was for glasses. Very poor service and glasses were not of good quality, did not last very long.

I was notified that Veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange would be eligible for a benefit. I am currently on 20% disability for my exposure to Agent Orange from my tour in Vietnam from September 1970 to September 1971. I noticed in a VA Newsletter that people exposed to Agent Orange and contacted hypothyroidism were also eligible for a benefit. I submitted a claim in June 2021 and did not hear from the VA for one year. I took a medical exam in Newark, Delaware. I called the VA every other month for a year. All they would say is that they were working on my claim. I never heard a word from them for a year. (That amount of time to make a decision is pathetic). After a year they came back to me with their decision. They acknowledged that I had hypothyroidism but that I would not receive any cash benefit for my condition. They did say that if I died from hypothyroidism, my widow could apply to the VA for a cash benefit. That was a terrible decision on their part. I deserve the benefit when I am alive not when I am dead. Being denied the benefit was a terrible decision on the VA’s part. The time it took for them to make a decision ( one year) is a disgrace. This is the second reason that I believe the VA in my home state is a disgrace to the Veterans that live in this state. My first reason I believe that the VA does not represent the best interest of it’s Veterans is that they declined my first claim for my exposure to Agent Orange when I applied for a benefit for a liver transplant in June 1997. I had 3 doctor reports that indicated that they believe my transplant was due to exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. I was also hospitalized for infectious mononucleosis with a liver ailment. I was hospitalized for 3 weeks while I was in Officer’s
Basic School in January 1970. The exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam was the catalyst that required the liver transplant and the hospitalization in January 1970. The VA took over 10 years to decide my case ending at the Court of Appeals. What has happened now, the anti-rejection drug (program) that I am taking for over 25 and a half years has given me stage 3-4 kidney disease. I cannot stop taking the drug so it is just a matter of time until I succumb to the kidney disease. These are the reasons that I do not believe that the VA has the best interests of their veterans in mind.
So, sorry to hear your story, the VA should really be ashamed to have Veterans such as yourself to suffer worst than animals!! Thank you for your service.
Navy Veteran, myself.

The VA requires urine drug screens for veterans seeking opioid pain medication prescriptions. A veteran with stage IV head and neck cancer that has reoccured twice since diagnosis is required to get a urine drug screen for pain medication at the VA. This was never required of the veteran when he was diagnosed and using his Tricare benefits instead of the VA. You can look up the protocol here. https://www.va.gov/oig/pubs/vaoig-14-00895-163.pdf. It’s humiliating for our veterans to be subject to a urine drug screen to receive pain medication for a service related cancer. Our veterans are not respected when treated this way.
I’m a 2-tour (Marine) combat veteran with an undiagnosed lung disease. My primary doctor made so many requests that I physically or mentally was able to meet her requirements. 2-years have past and nothing has happened with getting any treatment. The Medicare for senior citizens over 65 get Silver Sneakers going to any gym or workout station and the Medicare pays for that service to help seniors stay in shape. I am a senior citizen and a retired military veteran. Why should I have to pay for the gymnastic services outside of the VA Centers for $500. year for a membership dues. There are no swimming pools, hot tubs or sauna rooms to help for a better health. in any VA Center in the United States. If the Veterans Administration feels that $42000.00 is to much to make then they need to re view their thinking and see that it is not enough when you have bills, mortgages to pay. I served two tours in Vietnam all in combat recon and as a Platoon Sgt. The comparison of what you the VA was in the 70’s and 80’s to today’s VA is a complete reversal toward attitude, and desire to serve the vet.‘I did not return to the VA until 1999. I was giving a presentation at a rotary luncheon and I was introduced to the audience by another veteran, and he told them about my military service as Marine in Vietnam. My wife happen to be sitting next to the Director of the VA and she told him why I hated the VA. Bottom line;’ my wife encouraged me to give them a try. The VA gave me immediate medical attention, but my claim took two years to settle with the VA.. I ask the DAV for help and they actually shorten the waiting period. Today,, I receive 30% from the USMC and 70% disability from the VA., and I am a 100% Disable Retired Marine. Our VA hospital in Reno, NV is great. I have had a few issues with attitude from a few, however it was rectified immediately. My impression has been very positive and many of my Marine buddies agree with me that served in Nam. For a government health organization they have some faults,, and they are doing their best here in Reno! Service connected disability’s are extremely hard to get. A new clam filed is automatically denied. When you file an appeal it takes many months to get a response, before that also is denied. They come up with every lame excuse there is to support the denial no matter what evidence you send to
support the clam. So all you can do is give up or keep sending in appeals. and every time you do it takes longer (sometimes years) to get an answer.
I think their moto is ” deny, deny, deny till you die.

I can’t understand WHY the VA can’t just give medical cards (which would include dental care) like an ATM card and veterans could just go to their preferred place of medical or dental care and use that card so the govt. could pay for it. Waiting months for appointments is ridiculous and calling the VA is a joke. How come the VA is the only office that has no answering machines. You can’t even leave a message! You can go to the portal to leave messages but sometimes you need to speak to someone. We’ve tried over and over to get his disability rating higher than the 60% it is now and it’s like they have lost our paperwork. Trying to do anything is jumping through a thousand hoops. We were at a VA center once and there was a husband/wife there – he needed a wheelchair – they told them it would be about 9 months before one could come available. WHY WHY WHY?????? The man NEEDS A WHEELCHAIR!!!! And yes, I read comments earlier about how the govt. is more giving to illegal immigrants while veterans are sleeping on the streets and that is a travesty. Dental care is a staple of overall health. That’s a proven fact. However, VA continues to ignore this important element of medical care except for those that are 100% disabled or have a rated disability due to a documented dental injury. The remainder of the disabled vets who depend on the VA for their medical care are excluded from receiving dental care. Politicians and medical experts agree on the importance of dental care, but refuse to extend this much needed benefit to ALL veterans. I wrote a personal letter to President Biden who thus far continues to ignore my letter and the issue I have raised. If you’re reading this I strongly suggest contacting your representatives to gain their support. The VA has lied to me numerous times on how to apply for disability… I have been screwed several times on the application process… I stand at 40% but should be closer to 80 as I have bouts of vertigo, chronic headaches and severe Neuropathy in my back, arms, and from my belt-line to the soles of my feet… my legs give out on me regularly and I have fallen in stores, and at home. I have reported these and other issues at the Viera VA center In Florida to several (pseudo doctors) they call providers since 2010 and I recently reviewed my records only to find not a single dot or tee about my issues…..nothing was documented. I contacted the Advocate and she acknowledged that this was an issue… and that I had to petition to have the records amended… that is no easy task. Its all willful stonewalling our vets. The GOVT cares more about illegals entering this country giving them free everything while our vets have many conditions to contend with…and I dare say that much of what we deal with is due to experimental concoctions they injected us with posing as medication… as well as chemical and bio exposures in combat theaters…(all hush hush so they dont have to pay us) And we send 40 billion$$ to Ukraine to line the pockets of criminal elements in that region. (Zelinski has a 40 million dollar property in Florida by the way) I digress… The rinos and dems have always had it out for our veterans… they hate us with every fiber of their being and until they are dealt with we will continue to lose! I have given up on trying to get a better disability rating…its a fruitless quagmire and getting decent and accurate information or documentation is nearly impossible… they stonewall you at every level… they rather have you living out of your car!

I believe that is true. It took me over 10 years to get me to 100%. and take to long to get pay.
Don’t forget about our payments to Tricare in order to make “co-Payments” for our promised benefits. Not to mention no one wants to answer their phones anymore. No wonder the services are having a hard time finding recruits because a lot of them out there could be children of veterans, and they have lived the lie and seen the final results that their parents are having to do to “receive” a benefit they were promised. Add to that all of the protected children of all politicians who, if they join are put in safe positions so as to protect them, yet still allow them the ability to “Calin” military service. After adding those two together and then consider all of the entitled youth, and what do you have left?

I feel that the VA makes it very difficult to get disability. They admit that they caused me to have lung issues but tell me that I have to get supporting documents to prove that the issues have been a problem all the time since my ETS. The problem is that the doctors and or hospitals are either dead or have no records since that they only have to retain them for so many years. A very sad state of affairs when one admits they are the cause but still find a way to not help.

I never had a problem getting my disability. I did 2 tours in Vietnam from 1968-1970. Started out with a percentage for CHF and went full 100% when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Sorry it didn’t go more smoothly for other vets.
Same here I got my 100 percent rating soon as I filed easy peezy i don’t get why they are having so much trouble but keep in mind to get 100 percent rating your health problems have to happen while your enlisted if something goes wrong with your health 20 years after your out of the military you can’t very well blame them

They put him on life support when he did not want that, they said he didn’t sign a DNR. He signed one every time he went to the hospital. They said he didn’t have one, but they didn’t give him one to sign. He should have been 100% disabled all along. Now I can not get anything from the VA because of him only being 10% disabled. Yes, you’re right. My husband broke his back in the US Marine Corp 9 yrs10 months. e was gunho, the Marne Corp as everything to him and I respected him for his dedication to the Corp. He always gave 110% sometimes I felt like our children and I were #2 in his life, but I understood his dedication. He was given 10% and was told that he could stay in if he allowed the surgeons at Balboa Navl Hospital (SanDiego, CA) to do surgery, I refused, this was in 1989 and Back Surgery was a very dangerous surgery, we had 2 young sons and we just could not take a chance.
My husband was given $20,000.00 compensation, which we had to pay back by the Military taking part of his disability, we received $90.00 a month after they took $300.00 out to pay back the $20,000.00, and we had to pay taxes on it in 1989. We found out in 1994 that we should not have paid taxes on it but it was too late to request to do a 1040X. We had two young sons a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old when we got out. My husband is not a quitter and he continued to push himself enduring the pain determined to support his family. We moved home to Hawaii to live with my parents and have childcare. I transferred with my job, taking a downgrade, from a GS-7 to GS 4. My husband had to work three parttime jobs so we could make ends meet. Yes, Hawaii’s cost of living is much higher than a lot of places, but we had family to help us get back on our feet. We did get our own place, my husband missed out on most of our children’s childhood. Without their grandparents, they would not have been able to enjoy the recreational activities. My parents transported them to all of the afterschool activities and stayed with them until I was able to get there after work. If we could not afford things for our children, my parents and my siblings would always step in, we would always repay them eventually. My husband was able to establish a better paying job and I was able to move up with my job, it took 7 years.
Th doctor that my husband has at the VA clinic is pretty good, but the VA is making the doctor jump through all kinds of hoops. My husband was approved to have Chiropractic care which helps him to be able to walk without pain to perform simple tasks, to live days without too much pain. He is not a complainer. Now something called “Community Care” with the took it away from him, they said to was just maintenance care and he doesn’t need it. As a Vietnam veteran I would like to thank the veterans that have appealed to the Supreme Court on our behalf about the circumstances of having PTSD & or other conditions due to being in a combat zone many years ago. I was in the Saigon area in the year 1965 & was fortunate to come home & was released from duty in 1968 with an honor discharge. I had no idea I had PTSD until the year 2000. At that time I met a veteran counsulor who helped me receive a 100% rating to receive help from the Veterans Administration & that didn’t start until the year 2003. So, from 1968 to the year 2000 I didn’t know or didn’t get any help from the V.A. That is 32 years or having to wait for assistance from the V.A. And, I agree with the petition to the Supreme Court to get compensated from the V.A. in regards to all that time lost & I know many other veterans that feel the same way. Please clarify, are you referring to your Military Retirement Pay or VA Disability Compensation? Were you recently married? If you’re referring to your Military Retirement Pay and you were married while in the service your dependents should have been accounted for in your pay thus being carried over into your MRP. Unless you didn’t submit your marriage certificate to add them. If this is the case you should contact DOD at (800)321-1080 or better yet call the Department of Veterans Affairs at (800)827-1000. Either way they can point you in the right direction. If it’s the latter, i.e., Disability Compensation from the VA, just submit a copy of your marriage certificate and your child’s birth certificate to the VA. By the way, VA Disability Compensation benefits are tax free dollars. I hope this helps.

California needs to change the criterial for waived vehicle registration fees. Currently only those with a 100% rating involving loss of limbs are qualified. This benefit in no way helps them cope with their disability it’s just a thank you for above and beyond sacrifice. In the in reality they are actually minimizing other disabilities prioritizing one over the other. It’s actually insulting to those who suffered severe disabilities not involving loss of limbs or restricted mobility. A 100% permanent rating should be the criteria and have nothing to do with mobility. Vets who sacrificed their health to this degree should all be treated equally. I have submitted a bill change request to Senator Brown who has forwarded it to Sacramento. So far everyone I spoke to believes they law should be changed accordingly.

California, 9% “No” at the time of this comment, is the Capital of unhoused Veterans. Notice that I say “unhoused”. I say that because every disabled Veteran (if your without a Home you are disabled) has the “permanently” established Pacific Branch of the National Home for Disabled Veterans at West Los Angeles, CA.
Problem is, non-veteran special interests have stolen the keys. We even have beachfront property for the residents of the Home but that, too, has been taken over by the City of Santa Monica.
Don’t get it twisted, California WLA VA is the biggest, uniquely deeded, land-asset in the country but crooked developers and politicians are bent on tweaking America’s moral obligation to genuinely care for her defenders. Their “model” master plan for WLA will eventually reach all VA locations, even those that think VA walks on water.

It’s sad 😔 that we as veterans can’t get the same service we give a oath and our lives to protect and defend the constitution of the United States of America against enemies foreign and domestic. That a VA system for veterans can’t take, and make the same oath to protect and just give support to veterans in need with life changing events form servicing this nation.

For the most part I received very good care when going to the Shakopee VA Clinic when I lived in Prior Lake. When I moved to Bloomington Mn, I was closer to Mpls VA, so started going there. Because it is a huge facility compared to the clinic in Shakopee, getting fast response to any issues I have is a problem, however, overall, I feel that, the care has been good.. I know that they are very overloaded there, so I am fairly happy with the care that I have received.
You all know that there are veterans who serve and really don’t know enough about receiving benefits from the VA. My country needs to know that the men and I women have served and they deserve.. We have to recognize that when they come for help you all turn them down and that is the problem. If they come for help from you all we all need to help them. My final statement is that the VA can find these veterans and they have the same right just like you and l..know they have a dd214. Please l pray that you all find these services members.. send these Veterans a notification that you all will do your best to help these veterans, and they family members

Having been in “The System” for over 50+ years I have seen the VA go done the toilet and I feel for the young vets today for the fight they have to go through with this corrupt system. My very first visit to the VA clinic in Hawaii, didn’t have a hospital back then, back in 1971 after getting discharge from the Vietnam War, my back doctor sat in his chair reading a magazine on Yachts, he was a freaking guy from India and he was my doctor! The best service i ever got from the VA hospital was in American Lake, Tacoma and Seattle, WA. They found so many things wrong with me medically that others never bothered to look for and was I ever glad I was in their system.
Now living in the corrupt Las Vegas the VA hospital is so corrupt and mismanaged, and worse with the COVID B/S that a vet cannot get the treatment he earned.
Docotrs here are so overpaid and don’t want to work they should all be fired including the god damn VA Secretary for just being a non-vet, (draft dodging shit hole like JB)

VA doesn’t seem to have room for many of the older veteran’s now that the military stresses the troops coming out from Desert Storm and later to claim disability whether they have a valid disability or not. The game seems to be to keep pushing for 100% even if it takes years and with the help of these guys who guarantee they can increase your percentages. Until VA reexamines every claim for validity, the system will fail many of those who need it the most.

That’s just what the giant bureaucracy that is supposed to serve the needs of veterans wants to hear. Blame each other for the shortfalls of the V.A.? It’s broken in so many places that to not recognize a systemic failure is to delay any hope of fixing it. Compare the dedication we had to our country to the way we are treated now. Sorry. it’s not the fault of the Veterans. Too many seeking compensation for wounds suffered in war? Then expand the system to meet those needs. Wounded warriors waiting years for a decision on their claim and that’s somehow the fault of the warriors? Never a shortfall of money and resources to wage war but after the fact veterans and their needs are just too damned expensive? The giveaway to themselves of over two trillion dollars without blinking an eye but suddenly the cupboards are bare, and that’s our fault? How dare you blame the veteran for the shoddy treatment and the ignorance of our leaders.

#1 – Throughout my military career, I was seen by Active-Duty medical doctors for my right knee and back pain and have documentations for all these visits. Since my retirement from the military, I have had three (3) surgeries to my knee and several procedures for my back pain by civilian doctors. During these times, I have submitted both military and civilian documentation to the VA for my disabilities and have been awarded a TEMPORARY rating. My thoughts on this: if a veteran who had surgeries and procedures done for injuries while on active duty should be awarded a PERMANENT disability rating for the pain, suffering, stress and lack of mobility from a normal person. I know if the VA was to go this route, this would help eliminate their backlog, provide better and timely service to other veterans waiting for their claims to be processed. #2 – Those veterans who are/have been sent for evaluation to their claims at any facility are usually doctors whose contract been awarded by the VA to the lowest bidder. These doctors don’t care about the veterans and are just concerned about drawing a paycheck. Their evaluations back to the VA are a mean to let them know how good of a job they are doing by saving money from being paid/belongs to us veterans plus keeping their contract with the VA. These doctors have never served in the military and have no idea to: How to pick up a weapon and stand on those walls to protect our loved ones!!!

My Husband was robbed by the Veteran during his life and I’m being robbed by the Veterans after his death
Nevada is awful to veterans, no school or training and all we get is high prices.
I agree 100%
I totally agree. I had a claim for carpal tunnel in both hands with paperwork for a surgery and they denied it. I was pregnant on active duty and had a traumatic delivery with paperwork from the hospital I gave birth to my son in and they denied it. Eye surgery on a rice duty with proof and they denied it.
Florida seems invested in Veterans
Under Biden admin I think things are slower and the top doesn’t care
Yes! Very Much So!!
I think they do a bunch of little things, that don’t mean much of nothing to anybody, just to make it look like they’re doing something!
I haven’t made a VA appointment in years (which I know I need) because I simply don’t have a ride to and from the appointment.
I can only eat soft foods (Breads & soups) because my teeth are bad because of the type of fillings the Navy put in my mouth in 1975.
I suffer with very severe lower back pain, somedays I can’t get out of bed. Studys show this is a problem that has developed in Aircrewmen, which I was Helicopter Combat Search & Rescue Aircrewman, I suffer with it because I can’t get to the VA. Just one more, this burial ins. They tell us it’s free, it’s not, I have $90 NSF at my bank right now because of it… I Thank You for your time.

VA does not care about Vets. When it comes to approving benefits. The so call in take section and people who make the decision only care about how much money they can make, only make sure their relatives get approve for benefits..
100% agree
It seems that the government hates its vet’s. I was in service Navy for 6 years. If you are an older vet, in my 60 ‘s, you really do not get heard. I just had eye surgery and both of my eyes have stitches across my eye lids, that I should have had antibiotics, but I’m allergic to most, but there are some that I’m not. But they prescribed an antibiotic that I am allergic to. The pharmacy at the VA hospital, didn’t give me a replacement, so no antibiotics for me. I was to have the stitches removed 9 days ago. I even called my primary care provider and told them I needed them removed, but here I sit, with stitches in both my eyes!!! WTF…what’s a girl gotta do to get HELP!!!
Also all veterans should have a military discount on all utilities bills, Gas, Water, sewer and all stores. Specially all 100 % Disable Veterans.

That’s probably why there are less recruits today, because of the politicians for what they promised to do in the first place.
My husband has been waiting for over 4 years to get to see a Neurologist and all tests have been done but by the time the VA gets around to it, all the tests will have to be redone! It’s a bunch of S—t! They need you to serve but once you are out of the military they don’t give a damn!!
Sacramento cares more about illegals than vets.
Criminal.
No service in North Carolina. Every time I go for anything they tell me I don’t qualify for services that others get. No travel- pay or any services friends of mine get, no problem. I just quit going, more of a hassle than it is worth. I do get about 10% at different places locally. I spent 6 year total obligation, 2 active, 2years active reserve, and 2 years inactive reserve. Got DD214 at the end of that time, honorable discharge. Last time i went to Salisbury, NC was for glasses. Very poor service and glasses were not of good quality, did not last very long.
I agree… I spent three years active Military Police and three years active reserve. When I went for VA benefits I was immediately accepted. However, within two months, I received a phone call telling me that I was no longer able to use the VA because I made too much money (social security & retirement) but I could reapply in January. Got a DD214 with honorable discharge as well but what good did those six years of service do me? Nothing.
I think Maryland hurt Veterans with SSDI it seem like they take a long time to make a decision and then it come back denied when the Veterans is already 100% disabled
Keep on waiting because they don’t want to help you..have you running to Dr. that talks to you for 10 to 15 minutes.(in and out )

I agree with you, in where you live. And that’s unfortunate. It shouldn’t matter where any United States veteran lives. When one veteran is approved in California, another veteran should be approved in New York, and any other state in between. The V.A. should be consistent across the board.
That is so true
Santa Maria VA service great. I was referred out to a specialist in September and took tri-care 3 1/2 months to finally get the paperwork to me after mini mini calls and waiting on hold that came with an appointment. I went for the appointment I didn’t have an appointment so I still have to wait another month and a half Tracker is the problem here right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing
Yes, I live in New Franklin, Ohio. My concern is that the V A need more support, both physical and financial The care I receive is exceptional considering what they have at hand…! Thank You…!
Black me/woman get denied VA benefits at an alarming rate, especially states like Northwest Indiana..
I agree totally, I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota and it is astounding the lack compassion that’s exhibited towards getting service connected for injuries accrued during my serviced. They do all they can to prevent you from receiving due benefits
Welcome to the long awaiting club.
Keep trying it took me 8yrs after my husband died Do not give up you deserve every single penny thy give you
So true I have been fighting the VA since 2008, thought they were charged with taking care of us vets but feel like they like to drag their feet until the vet gives up or dies so they do not have to provide appropriate compensations.
I am physically unable to care for myself at times. My wife had surgery and cannot care for me nor our home. They denied her as my caregiver, several times. Now what do we do?
Veterans should get a release from any type of artheritus and rheumatardios
All bullshit give the man what he needs for pain
I’m a 2-tour (Marine) combat veteran with an undiagnosed lung disease. My primary doctor made so many requests that I physically or mentally was able to meet her requirements. 2-years have past and nothing has happened with getting any treatment. Why is it so damn hard to be seen? And I can’t imagine the veterans that have little to no resources. Mr President this is not right, I honorably did my part in serving my country for 23 years.
Contacting the VA by telephone is often difficult. Getting a return call rarely occurs.
The only time Veterans ever seem to get listened to is around election time, and even then only a few are listening. Most of the elected official don’t seem to give a damn, or we’re way down their list of priorities, after illegals, welfare cases, criminals, lefty crybaby groups, and of course, their own self interest.
It sucks, but it’s true.
I have had a claim since 1959 and have all negative responses. It forces me to see a lawyer
The current adm.has more concerns with
Migrants and people who have long livid off the system.
Why don’t we take those that are eligible and put them into military or a job force that benefits everyone
I love the VA Healthcare System in the Phoenix area.
I Love my country but at times when you need help from your country it will turn it back on you. You go out and fight for it and come back and go to war with your country to get what you deserve and some die fighting.
I cannot understand why the VA doesn’t pay for outside gymnastics like the LAFitness Centers. I believe this should be brought up to the VA as a concern and a complaint to help defray costs for outside gymnastics services..
Why say anything it doesn’t do any good
I believe that more noise that us veterans make, they will listen to us
I agree. Make noise..
How is it fair when child support matters anyone on ssi or ssd or any disability they pay $24-$50 due to the state of ny does not recognize that as in come. But when it comes to veterns disability they do recognize that but yet it’s the same thing and we get the same rates and treated the same way. NO stimulus checks no incentives nothing. So how is that fair one is not income yet the other is?? I think our state needs to address this and fix this.
yes dental and eye care should all be free and even implants! and they do not offer them and they should be able to give you treatment at a. local dental clinic that does this service. and many vet are not getting full benefits that they deserve they not evaluating many vets properly or give you lower rating which is very unfair. my wife is a vet she has a higher rating she was a nurse! but i have more medical problems and I get a lower rating the system is unfair to many vets! YES I HAVE SEEN people holding cardboard signs saying homeless vets and wanting money. I stopped and talked to many of them and found a lot of them are not veterans at all! SO be careful not to be taken!
Medical dental and vision should be FREE to ALL VETERANS who served this country..
And there should be NO HOMELESS VETERANS AT ALL IN TJIS COUNTRY!!!…
The government in thouse country dosent care at all about its Vetrans anymore!!!!…
HELL. LETS FACE THIS COUNTRYS CURRENT PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT, DOMT EVEN JAVE ENOUGH DECENCY AND RESPECT TO SOLUTE OUR ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY!!!….
YOU know what they day crap rolls down hill, So yes its time to get rid of the crap at the top so there is no more crap to roll down.
When this countries own president and vice president dont even have the deceny and respect for those people serving and protecting our country to solite them then why would any one else?
Our governments spends how much to take in house and feed and give medical treatment to illegals in this country uet our veterans have to pay on tier system to use VA drs hospitals and get medications.
And how many of our fellow men and women in this country served to protect this country and are now homeless and or jobless?
Yet our government thinks this is all ok and. Illegals are more important!!!…
Have a jobless veteran and a school that needs more security?
Put that jobless veteran in full combat gear with combat weapon and station them at that school that needs more or better d3ecurity and give them a decent paycheck. Do that and I bet people think twice before tryimg to go into the school that jas that to do any shooting let alone mass shootings.
I agree 100 percent I had prostate cancer and Vietnam veteran , I 3 disk are touching each other and still waiting see a doctor
Thank God..Trump LOST
Shove it, Baker! Without the Democrats, we wouldn’t have a VA at all.
Biden’s son was a vet and he has done more for vets than any recent President.
The republicans, particularly trumptard, only want to take the money from the VA and shell it out to their rich buddies.
Mefical dental and vision should be FREE to ALL VETERANS who served this country..
And there should ne no homeless veterans at all in this country!!!…
The government in thouse country dosent care at all about its Vetrans anymore!!!!…
Jell Lets face it even the Current presidant and vice president dont have enough class to solute our active duty military!!!…
The only free Dental care in the VA is for people that have fought for years to get 100 per cent disability. Then and only then will you be able to get full dental care.
I’m waiting over 16 months for the ChampVA/Tricor to be approved
The only comment I hear is we are behind !!!!!
People need work hire and train vets to help us do your job!!
I had to finally had to have a back fusion to help relieve the pain in my lower back and lower extremities but during that surgery the nerve that operates my right leg and foot along with certain spots in both of my lower extremities have no feeling in spots and no function in my right foot rendering me in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. Even though it was a mishap by VA doctors, the only compensation was an 80% rating with full benefit pay. I’m still not at a 100% rating. U still don’t have a lift for my motorized wheelchair 8 years after the devastating surgery. My back was my service connected injury why so long to get what is needed to merely survive ?
I think it could be better I have applied for a increase in my shoulder and for ptsd but the Dr. looked at my physical appearance and gave only a minimal increase my shoulder HURTS everyday and sometimes I have total memory lapse I have cards all over my house to que me in on certain things
I go to the VA Med Ctr in Durham. There are 2 parking garages. One has been unusable. Vets must fight for parking, driving around and around. Nobody seems to care! We’re late due appts, breathing dunes as we wait for parking! Get it fixed!!!!!!
I believe that Veterans should not be charged any co pays for seeing a doctor but there is a limit of only making $39000.00 a year and even if one is single that is just barely enough to live on and you do not qualify for 0 co=pays. I am retired and my Medicare pays for all of my co pays but is not accepted in the VA but when I started with the VA I was not making more than $30000.00 a year but decided to go back to work because I found it hard trying to pay all of my bills and now I may have to stop going to the VA and go to my outside Doctor since it would cost me less and I do have a good Doctor with the VA and most of the services have been good and there is still room for improvement but I served in the Armed Services for 6 years during the Vietnam Era and feel that there should be no co – pays for Veterans and we do pay for our medication. If the Veterans Administration feels that $42000.00 is to much to make then they need to re view their thinking and see that it is not enough when you have bills, mortgages to pay. That rule needs to be changed to a higher amount
All vets worked for the government and we all have had our negative experience with government, the VA employees have to deal with their demons and Bureaucrats. everyday. Support your DVA, the American Legion, and other groups to fight for all of us with our government to get the benefits we all deserve.
When we leave the service we are only told of schooling and home loan benefits, no one ever tells us about service connected disability benefits that would be easy to prove at time of discharge..
This is a national disgrace.
I can not get disability from the Military this setting in a office all day just to talk to someone who say if you were in the National Guard that your case do not count
so it been crazy I still having knee issues and I metal can not spell anymore
so I having issues from so many reasons, and I so said I can not get a MRI in the
ER room, that not allowed set in the ER in Dallas for 6 hours and did really do a thing
for me? so How is any person on our the side of us retired Military I did 22 years 9 months for my little 800.00 month retirement very little benefits
I’m going through the exact same thing now!
Do not be too hasty to blame vets with non svc connected complaints. Any complaint that makes a svc connected any worse makes the non svc connected complaint unbearable is a viable complaint. deserving the same care as the connected one..
I find that the biggest problem in Fl is that there are just too many vets and not enough providers to take care of them.. The providers do a fantastic job with the time available and they do care about all of us.. Yes, I am talking from experience, I am a Korean vet with many problems that is very proud of the help I get from the VA.. Good luck in the future..
many people complain about problems that weren’t service connected which makes it harder for those of us who have real problems .
Like those us who have blood problems /parkinsons,,,brought on by exposure to agent orange.
On the whole our state of florida VA tries very hard to tend to our needs in a decent manner…now in saying that it hasn’t always been that way,,by far !!
I stopped going anywhere the VA at one time,,til the Parkinsons came along afew years ago.
My husband is a Vietnam War veteran and some of his “stories” are absolutely horrible. It’s a slap in the face to every veteran. This current administration is going to pay for all the damage and harm they have done to this country. It may not be while living on this earth, but they will have no excuse when they stand before an Almighty God.
Hi elaine-my husband is Vietnam War Veteran also. He has been battling them for years to get his rating up and they raise it with one thing, then take percentage away, Say it is part of a pie. figure to balance it out. Outrageous !! how absolutely insulting to him. And years of waiting also for months to get authorizations for each community care medical appt he needs as we live in a real rural area far away from big va clinics etc. good luck to you and youre husband, thank him for his service I feel youre pain with the va issues
All Vietnam Vet are cursed once we set foot in Vietnam and until we die. If you remember Jimmy Carter Pardon the draft dodgers and open the gates for the Vietnamese to come to the US, and still nothing for the Vietnam Vet. It took me 30 yrs when I got back to find out about the VA benefits.
My husband had a nuclear and stress done 5 months ago. Still have NOT gotten results. His appts. keep getting cancelled non-stop. Vietnam veteran
The only thing is a veteran of 11 years with the US Air Force reserve the only thing I wish they had for all veterans and that’s totally disabled with a dental program I’m a semi tire retired realtor and I need my teeth worked on and I’d have to really pay out-of-pocket I wish there was a dental program for the US Air Force and for all veterans for that matter
It is SAD how so many people have forgotten that Freedom isn’t Free!
I can’t find Opportunities to work in a Country that I suffered so Much for.
I’m so sorry to read this it is a disgrace how the veterans are not taken care of
Dental care is a staple of overall health. Routine care will save lives and improve overall health, while at the same time, help avoid costly restorative care.
We need a dental program for sure
You will get a dental plan when your 100% p/t. Unless you had an in service accident and it is in your file.
Agree
Already did, health care is bad, 8 months from today to get an appt, only one major hospital in California ;Palo alto, I was there with a Marine vet, he drove 1000 miles to the doctor, some come clear from New Mexico, crazy, lack of dental is horrible, vision isn’t really any better.
I Must agree it’s not fair to veterans who are not 100%SC Before I became 100% most of my teeth were in bad shape all Veterans honorably discharged should have dental care.
My husband is a veteran and can’t get any help with dental problems. He has no dental coverage at all and his teeth need repaired. Why don’t veterans get any dental coverage at all?
I agree with you Brian there needs to be more help there there is now we served are country and in return they need to help un more
I believe that is true.
Hello brother veteran, Do You someone supporting your case. Never give up.
appeals make it sweeter when you when, Active documentation get names of the doctors, and you can check if they are qualified to make decisions on your behalf.
Friends, family people who see you every day. get them to write statements on your behalf. NEVER GIVE UP USA/RET/DAV
I fought the VA from 2006 until 2020 ti get To 100% Permanent and Total Disability !!! The VA Ambulatory Care in Columbus, Ohio Has Refused to Fix a Cavity and to Scedule a Colonoscopy unless I Sucumb to a Useless Covid Test !!! They are Pushing a So Called Experimental Covid Vaccine that are Causing Devastating Side Affects !!! They are Being Ran By the Communist/Demoncrats !!! That Explains it All !!!
It is funny how the VA rating system goes. I was at 50%. Then they gave me a rating of 30% for asbestos problems with my lungs. They are only working at about 50% now. Anyway I got the 30% rating but they only raised my overall rating to 60%. I do not understand their math. If anyone else con explain it to me I would like to hear from you.
I’ve been fighting for 25 years. I’m a cancer Survivor of contaminated water 💧 at Camp Lejeune.
Submit your name to the class action suit currently being filed on veterans behalf for being stationed at Camp LeJune! That’s one way to get something, and maybe your benefits as well!
Same here I got my 100 percent rating soon as I filed easy peezy i don’t get why they are having so much trouble but keep in mind to get 100 percent rating your health problems have to happen while your enlisted if something goes wrong with your health 20 years after your out of the military you can’t very well blame them
I think all veterans should have free medical for life, should be able to go to any hospital, in the United States for medical, the people in Washington have it, they did nothing for this country except trying to ruin it. And build there wealth.
Amen when I came in 1981 I herd I some 5 words free health care for life!! but as we know we still pay and after 65 we fall in with everyone else it should be better we’ll care, dental should be free. If you stay 25 years or more your retirement should be 100% of your base pay for retirement. Life . If a senator spends just 4 years he or she gets 100% of 200.000 plus. I get it but veterans should get more specially the one who stayed 25 years plus.
The state of NY seldom recognized military discounts, veterans status, property taxes. home loans, disabled veterans eligible for state breaks
The VA IS FAILING US….THEY ARE WAITING FOR US TO DIE, SO THEY WON’T HAVE TO PAY OUT BENEFITS THAT WE DESERVE….
This is exactly what happened to my husband. He applied for his benefits and only got 10%, he tried to get more but the dr never tried to help him. He was in asian orange territory in Viet Nam, he had copd bad and had herat problems. He went to see the so called dr they assigned him, but he was a no good, my husband died after the VA put him to sleep for his valve surgery in 2019. The VA sucks in Fort Worth..
I have been trying to collect surviving spouse benefits for 30+ years now and still
not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. VA is great at beating around the bush rather then taking care of their Vets and their families.
That’s all true.
So true.
Some what! 2 many VETS LIVING on the STREETS.
I believe the va doctors are there to disprove vets, reg doctors seem to make a diff. USA doesn’t take care of the vets properlythey lie an deny unless ur a total vegtable, or disnembered. People that don’t deserve thier help an play the game get total benifits honest folks get delayed delayed delayed so they never have a valid claim. Been telling them for 49 years about water contamination at camp lejeune an it’s a fact from 2 universities an ncbi gov contamanenta there’s a neurologic side to this to no avail even though it’s proven and they also didn’t bother telling them they were contaminated which could have changed many lives for the better if they’d have known
Thanks Nick USMC senior veteran
So true and it never will change until we stand up for us.
We have been fighting to get it back, we have been paying out of pocket for it. HELP!!!!!
Same here liver lungs R/A and still denied
The VA started trans gender with the promise to do the surgery. then they changed their mine after we lost our family and friends and got kicked out of many organizations. Now they said it can take 2 to 3 years for it to be changed. I am 76 now I cannot wait for those years. I would like to have my surgery now.
Ive been discharged from the Army since 1968. I served in Vietnam twice and was wounded several times. It has taken me 50 years for me to get service connected disability. There are a number of wounds physical and mental that have not been addressed.
I hear you. I just recently got mine as well. I got out in 69, got asbestosis from the Navy. I also had debilitating migraines al, through my tour. But I read recently the Supreme Court is ruling on a Vets case which if he wins, will roll back many vets compensation to the date of discharge. So we can make our grandkids millionaires.
I definitely understand, I believe they are purposely waiting for us to expire so they won’t have to pay out benefits. It’s sad really 😞 there should not be any US VETERAN HOMELESS, STRUGGLING, NOR DENIED BENEFITS AND DISABILITY PAY IF YOU HAVE BEEN HONORABLY DISCHARGED AND ARE DISABLED IN ANY WAY,SHAPE, FORM, OR FASHION!
With all that is going on with the Supreme Court, I doubt that they will react in anytime soon. I’m 100% compensated as of 3 months ago and I served in
Vietnam 1965 & 1966. So you can see how that worked out and my original claim was submitted in 2008 due to cancer and PTSD and Agent Orange verified by the VA.
Did you file your claim on your own or go through the VSO or DAV?
I acquired 1st cancer in 98 serving my 4th year n army. Acquired cancer a 2nd time 2018 and this time tumor attached to my aorta. Chicago va office drops me from 100% to 10% May 2022 and have several health problems with breathing issues, fatigue, rapid weight loss and to them i must either have surgery or do chemo in order to continue getting 100% benefits. Doctor refuses to do surgery because of where tumor located so they just want to wait for it to grow bigger before operating and cant do chemo because 1st cancer tumor grew from softball size to football size in a day so chemo out of question. Ive sent appeals and to no avail they still deny me benefits needed with health issues. Illinois is a joke taking care of there veterans
I can’t wait until Biden and Harris are both impeached!!!!!!!!
Not happening .
What about Trump
What about Trump? Every thing they’ve tried to hang on him has been PROVEN false.
I am sorry to have to tell you this but, if they didn’t impeach
Trump for the under handing way he caused the riots on the Whitehouse and many other things he did and is still causing ,
they surely won’t impeach President Biden…
if you Weren’t a veteran I’d call you an idiot he wasn’t the cause of that riot and you know it.
Really? He didn’t send the mob to March on the capitol?
I was in the Army Reserves from June 1968 to 1974. Our unit was activated to go to Vietnam. In 1974 but we were cancelled because we were scalling back. A grenafe blue up real close to me injuring my right ear. I never filed anything that I was injured but that should not make a difference because I servef my country and now they charhe me a percentage of the VA mortgage. I think they should do away with that fee for all Veterans.
You must prove it. Did you get a Purple Heart or can others write it up for you as a witness statement. You can try hearing loss or Tinnitus ringing in the year. W/o a PH.
MY MAN THE LIGHT ON BUT NOBODY HOME
This is not the form to say that about our commander in chief shame on you
I heard biden administration is taking money from va to support his bullshit on our southern boarder what’s up with that crap
seriously are you just a republican or stupid. Both sides have abandoned us !! And they think we’re STUPID ! Our VA in southern IL is known for KILLING more vets than helping anyone!! So instead of listening to our rich leadership Go visit a VA hospital .. Our nurses used to give us complaint #s to call (The # led you to a non answered B.S.site at least the nurses tried) The VA and everyone connected is in CYA mode and Cover up
The VA was improving, and service was getting better, but it cost money, and the democrats didn’t like it, so they threw the monkey wrenches in the works, and we veterans are paying the price again. We were promised care when we donned the uniform, and now they prefer to spend money on illegals and leave us to suffer in silence. I’ll be silent no longer! Fix the VA!! We the men and women who defended this nation deserve the best treatment, not the crap you serve up to us! Fix the VA! WE are dying because the democrats would rather spend tax dollars on their new voter base from the south! Fix the VA, and serve us as you promised!!!
It doesn’t matter if you are a Republican or Democrat in Office, The Truth is Veterans have Never been treated or their Needs addressed for many Years ! Arizona may be leading or at lease up there for this Neglect !! Yes We are a Veteran family !!
What I have noticed in Wichita VA is there is not enough Dr’s available in need fields like (Ortho, Dental, Neurologist, Physical Therapy). It is getting harder to get appointments with specialty care and getting medications in a timely manner because they have to be mailed to you from KC. I still have problems from surgery that I had 5 April 2021, have had lots of tests and they can’t find out what’s wrong so they say it will go away.
In 1996 the law suite on agent orange was settled and not all Viet Nam veterans received settlements from that. Yet there are still Veterans waiting for there disability rating to be finalized. Why can’t the rest of the veterans receive any compensation from that settlement!
My husband was a Marine in Vietnam 1965-1967. He did 2 tours Mainly because he got an emergency leave to attend his Mother’s funeral ..He was almost done with his tour ( 2 weeks away) The Military made him complete a second tour when he returned from his emergency leave !! He is yet to receive any compensation from Agent Orange!! He recently had DBS and the Surgeon found tissue in his brain indicating exposure to Agent Orange. It mimics Parkinson’s!! The other issue I have is Vietnam was NEVER declared a War just a Conflict…. No Republicans or Democrats in Office , State or Federal, have ever changed this !
I’m 76 and served in viet nam from 1967-69. I’ve got cancer and was told I should file for agent orange. I did and provided EVERYTHING they asked for. I was notified that it now at the approval/disapproval stage. THAT was a year and a half ago. I called and got same story. I guess they are waiting for me to die and don’t have to give benefits.
I am a Vietnam Veteran of 4 Tours in Vietnam and I have been Denied for a Lung Disease Called Sarcoidosis and Denied Appeals many times !!! I too was Exposed to Toxic Burn Pits during My Time There !!! I am Extremely Upset with the VA, who has been Pushing Their Bullshit Mask and Covid Jab as Well as Refusing to Fix a Dental Cavity or do a Colonoscopy, unless I Submit to Their Bullshit Covid Testings !!! If I Had a Real Health Care Choice, I Would Tell The VA to Go to Hell !!! Their Bullshit Rule to use the Choice Option, Requires that You Have to Live More than 50 Miles From A VA Healthcare Facility or Wait Times Greater than 30 Days. So much for Choice !!!
I have had two knee replacement in 4 years because VA Nurse Pract. broken the first one because she force my leg back into my thigh she had to I told her it should be nature not force range of motion she got rude with me the VA said ” oh well” the when I had the surgery done I should have got 12 months T 100% disable. I got 6 month when they changed it in the middle plus it was the same in 2017 I got only 6 month I was in the middle of a appeal along with the replacement in 2021 Thanks JOE BIDEN and the DEMS. you would rather give legal everything and screw the VETS AND DISABLE VETS THE SHAFT
I have been sick for so long and have been going to the VA at West Roxbury more than a few times and they say they can’t find out what’s wrong with me I wake every morning shaking and very cold nothing shows up in the test so I am sent home to keep on going through the same thing each and every day for months. Mr. Fagone
We need to pass a law that when a Vet dies, the spouse should get ALL the vets benefits….his monthly pay, the insurance, the tax exemption for the homestead, and the health insurance….the spouse’s stay home and raise the children and take care of the day by day things for the family, giving up their future for the good of protecting our country..
I agree 100% they served as we did
I agree 100% our spouses deserve our benifits they are care givers they’ve earned it. Well said Salute yoü Sir that’s just good commen sense yoü would think a 5th grader writes out the benifits for veterans and there families
I agree 100 % with all of you.i served in the navy for 12.5 years and was on five WW2 ships and I am about 50% sure that all 3 of those ships still had asbestos in them I served between 1979 and 1992 proudly and the VA only gives me 10% disability even though I have told them everything that medically wrong with me
Yes, you’re right.
We have been fighting to get it back, we have been paying out of pocket for it. HELP!!!!!
Yes and believe the spouses so receive compensation and all the benefits that our husband receives.
Thank you again for looking out for us vets.
I agree 100%. I spent 5 years in country assigned to HqMACV with assignment all over the country . I was not recognized by the VA until 5 years ago.
I like this post, enjoyed this one thank you for putting up. “Money is a poor man’s credit card.” by Herbert Marshall McLuhan.
I am a Vietnam Veteran and 75 yea5rs old. The VA has provided me with a hospital bed, access ramps for entry via wheelchair to my home. They also have a health care team that provides monthly access to pychologist, dieticiamn, nurse practicioner, and all needed medical supplies. The VA has indeed been very good to me.
I am a retired veteran retired in 1984. Upon receiving my first retirement check I noticed that they were paying as a single. I tried for almost 5 years to get it changed to married with one dependent. This change should of effected my taxes and an increase in my retirement check. To this date I have not been able to contact DFAS or anyone to make this change. Any suggestions on getting help?
Did the same thing to me still waiting
Wrong politicians in charge
Immigrants don’t deserve
ANY OF our welfare programs money….we have millions of AMERICANS who deserve economic help..IF we EVER get our own people
served…AND get rid of dumbass Congress..
Now that’s some real talk. I am a Marine Veteran that’s looking for real leadership changes. Long term government servers have out dated ideas.
THERE SHOULD BE A CAP ON CONGRESS AND SENATE SAME AS THE PRESIDENT A 2 YRS TERM NO MORE. ONCE THEY GET STUCK IN THE TROFF YOU CAN’T GET THEM OUT AND A LIMIT ON HOW MUCH TO SPEND ON A CAMPAIGN. THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS SPENT COULD HELP OUT THE NEEDY, ALL CAMPAIGN MONEY LEFT OVER WHEN THE POLITICIAN LEAVES OFFICE SHOULD GO TO THE U. S. TREASURY AS IT USE TO GO TO FROM THE BEGINING.

Right on ,what we have now is focus , nothing tangible being done. Moscow Mitch and his filibuster to blame. The repugo party is behind this treason .
Agreed!
Presumptive conditions (BS). I have Toxic Peripheral Neuropathy. I was exposed to Agent Orange and all nasty chemicals and poisons. I was an Entomologist. The VA should study all Entomologists that were exposed to harmful toxic substances. We were all poisoned by the military. I have been working on my fifth claim. I’m tired of the run around. The response from my first claim. VA letter wanted proof that I was in Vietnam (BULL SHIT). Why the hell do we have a DD214. It’s all stated. That was the first claim. After five claims, they still do not recognize Toxic Peripheral Neuropathy, even though I am being treated for it.
No one cares about vets period
VA services are going to hell. It’s not good
Now that’s some real talk. I am a Marine Veteran that’s looking for real leadership changes. Long term government servers have out dated ideas.
I’ have been waiting 11 years about my appeal and i still keep getting a bunch of crap from the VA they are a bunch of lyingpeople who don’t give a damn about what happens to any of us i judt hope the same thing happens to them and they run out of cash and become homeless and hungry. Just wait and see pay back is a SOB assholes
I have had a claim for my throid condition in the system for over 6 months. All I can get from them is its pending. Pending what ?
I think that the medical staff around me Are doing the very best they can concedering the way they are under staffed and the amount of personal they have too see….But my problem is when veteran’s need any type of paperwork it takes for ever.I payed $163.00 dolars for seven pieces of information so far I have one.And this is going on two months..
Why does the federal government still tax our retirement income? Most states don’t, it seems the states care more for us than Uncle Sam.
It is bad enough here in Oklahoma that I do all of my medical in Amarillo. same distance as OKC, better treatment. Most Vietnam Vets , like myself, not Vietnam Era vets, are treated worse than second hand citizens, making all those promises that were made when We either were drafted or enlisted were nothing short of being betrayed, some promises!!! It took over ten years and appeals just to get where i am, had to fight for something We earned and were promised.
VA is going backwards! In Jacksonsville, FL VA, they have returned to filling out travel claims on paper vice the electronic method! Really?
IN NEVADA THEY KILL VETERANS. THERE WAS A WOMAN VERTERN OF 20 PLUS YEARS WAITING AN HOUR AND HALF AT VA HOSPITAL, AND SHE DIED WHILE WAITING. SHE LAID IN ME ARMS 35 MINUTES LIFELESS BEFORE THEY WOULD COME AND GET HER.
Why are comments sush as this restricted from the the national news, written, radio & TV?
Help us get this information out, nhdvs.net
Travel pay in NJ is not being paid when complaining you get no where
SHAME””” HONORING OUR PACT LEGISLATION HR 3967″” PASSED IN CONGRESS ON MARCH 3 2022 AND THE SENATE HADNT EVEN LOOKED AT IT . VETERANS WITH TOXIC EXPOSURE LIVING WITH CANCERS AFTER SERVING THIER COUNTRY. SENATE NEEDS TO STEP UP AND PASS THIS BILL
My % disability was to be evaluated for increase — Have yet to ear about it in more than 4 months
Don’t hold you Breath
Go to your V.A. Advocate make a formal complaint file a complaint with your congress man and document keep records
Please call me 7723231000 camp lejune vet cancer call me please Robertusmc 1971 florida

Higher percentage of property tax breaks, regardless of disability rating
I live in Indiana and my property taxes are sky high. I pay more on taxes than my mortgage payment. Can veterans get property tax relief?
Illegals are given more rights than our military or our vets, there are more of our vets living on the streets than anything and the illegals have more priorities over housing and jobs than our vets and that needs too stop they fought for this country not them
I been trying to get into a home for 5 years now . Talked with every VA rep I can and all I get is (we can put you up in a shelter for a night). What happened to helping vets buy a home. I live in a one room tobacco barn that my brother fixed for me as a temporary place but it’s been 5 years
Contact Veterans United. Their website/phone number etc can be googled up easily. They will help you!
Yes information for vets in need for us who don’t know how we can get help is very important 👍
I have been receiving treatment in Hopkinsville Kentucky clinic and the Nashville Tennessee hospital..to me they are over worked and under staffed at this time but they all deserve a Thank You and pat on the back.
JUST RELOCATED FROM NY (ROCHESTR) TO GA (ATLANTA). THERE IS NO COMPARISON TO THE ATLANTA SERVICE VERSES ROCHESTER. ATLANTA ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10 IS A -15.
You are one of the lucky ones my friend, the John Cockerin medical center was rated the worst in the nation. And the only person I can getbto actually help has been my psychologist.
It’s amazing how much better the VA treats veterans so much better in the state of Virginia in the state of Louisiana I moved to Virginia and found that the VA was much better in Virginia now that I move back to Louisiana I’m going through the same problems that I did when I left still waiting on my regular schedule appointments.
Medical Records have been destroyed by a fire and can’t get any evidence of my Agent Orange condition Also was denied back in 1974 of my agent Orange condition, now I must continue the fight for my 100% which I still feel I’m in Vietnam fighting…….🤷🏾♂️

The Dept. of Veterans Affairs had me removed from my job and in all of their Affidavits they all committed Perjury. The EEOC and the EEOC Judge were pushing for me to cancel my Age Discrimination case, and they lied as well that included the corrupt EEOC and the Judge. I could not afford an Attorney to sue the Schmendricks, but I figured what goes around comes around!
I believe they could speed up the process of decision making. I was lucky enough to have a great VSO. She got my response in less than a month. My friend in another county has been waiting over six months
Seince I have moved to Montana, I feel that Montana is doing a great job on taking care of the veterans, what better then Colorado ,Denver VA is a joke .
As a personal sergeant I gave advice on what to do before you retire and after you retire. Going to school was the next step for me. I graduated with a BSW degree, four years after retirement. I did not take advantage of GI Bill as much as I should of. The Ten percent disability I have utilized when I first retired hearing aids, glasses, back problems and now thirty years later have yet to call the VA for anything. Hearing aids I still wear, got them through private insurance. Have developed arthritis in both shoulders and back. Going to limit what I can and cannot do for the rest of my life. How much was contributed by the twenty-two years I spent in the Army, and would VA look at anything since I have not contacted them in thirty years?
They will if you are persistent don’t give I’m getting ready to start the same fight I never wanted anything I didn’t do myself I been treated by the VA an I’m still young an can barely function day to day by now you know what you have done an what was out of your hands good luck
IN WISCONSIN GOVENOR EVERS APPOINTED A FEMALE TO TAKE CHARGE OF THE VA IN WISCONSIN AND IT HAS BEEN REALLY GETTING TO BE A NIGHTMARE FOR MILITARY VETERANS. SHE HAS DONE NOTHING. AS A DISABLED VIETNAM MILITARY VETERAN I GO TO THE VA BEAVER DAM CLINIC, BECAUSE THE HOSPITALS ARE OVER AN HOUR AWAY FROM MY HOME BUT I AM NOT ALLOWWED TO USE COMMUNITY CARE OR CHOICE HEALTH CARE FOR SOME REASON I DO NOT UNDERSTAND AND NO ONE TO EXPLAIN IT TO ME. THE BIG ISSUES IS THEY CANNOT KEEP A MD, DOCTOR AT THE CLINIC. TWO DOCTORS HAVE LEFT IN TWO YEARS. ALL THAT IS LEFT IS AN APNP. NO POLITICIAN IN WISCONSIN WANTS TO HEAR ANYHTING ID SOLVE THE ISSUE. I HAVE TRIED..
I think that more focus needs to be placed on the veterans who served as reservist initially. There is a lot of focus on the retirees and those individuals that were active first.
Yes I agree my reserve center closed left me with nothing , just a general discharge thanks Regan, so I can’t even qualify for a VA loan , but if I was injured in basic traing they could help me , what messed up , solution
DOD has no interest in us once we leave the service we are not any value to them anymore
We are our own worst enemy we can vote and make changes but we say it will not matter !! But you get all veterans to vote we be more than what gets these politicians elected so start speaking up and vote some one that will speak for us and vote out the ones that give lip service
no I don’t think they should get the same benefits, they didn’t serve the same length of time and not in a combat area, I serve in Vietnam and I didn’t know I could get any benefit 1996 and I am still can’t get full benefit as of this date, I just gave up trying to, now I can’t get much help now since I moved to Georgia, if I can’t Mahe appointment I am just dropped, never heard from they again, I have ptsd and I don’t remember most things and I forget things, like appointments, central Alabama is the worst I know of for veterans,
Yes information for vets in need for us who don’t know how we can get help is very important 👍
You got that right Mr.Jerry
US OLDTIMERS
are now on the back burner, Wounded in V.N. In 69
and it is HARD TO get a Dr.appointment any more.

Phoenix Arizona, is a name that refers to the VA’s poor rating for services. Executives make to much money, the working GS or manual labor jobs make far less and the care sucks.
We live in Western NC. Closest VA hospital is over 2 hrs away.
If that is the case then you should be on the Veterans Choice program. If you are covered under the VA Healthcare and live more then 40 miles from the nearest VA Hospital or Clinic then you are entitled to this program.
Texas represents Veterans fairly well. One thing I think they should consider is offering free tolls to 100% Disabled Veterans across Texas roads. Right now there are limited areas that offer free tolls, but they are in rural areas only.
Glad I found this, I wanted to say that I have recently moved to Maryland and am surprised to find it is so sorta unorganized and it’s just not the VA.
I started with the VA in California and then in Florida, it was amazing, in Cali they were so great to me.
And in Florida even with so many retirees, I felt like a as a woman I felt so honored,I always felt that they really cared for me.
Here in Baltimore I’m surprised that they so disorganized, I’m thinking that being close to Washington they’d be up on it, which I have no reason to think this, but it definitely is not the case.
I agree with you Nancy as far as Fl. goes and some Ga. but still need work.
I live . here in Baltimore and just had cancer and had 70 precent rating before.was givin 40precent for it but end up with only 80 and being under paided for it.
The state of Virginia does support veterans. However, there is room for improvement. Chief among the requests are tax free for active duty and retired personnel.
No comment necessary. It’s Texas.
Having trouble finding an attorney, to represent me! My primary care has failed me . Have illness/ injury in left shoulder. Referred me to phisical therapy, Ortho doctor, and imaging. Ortho doctor wants to replace my shoulder, imaging shows slight tears, phisical therapy = can’t preform Obrien test. . Primary care practitioner, won’t complete my disability form. Now I can’t work, and I have lost pay for disability, and insurance for my family. This corporate world doesn’t care for veterans .
Absolutely NOT! I complained in Nov21 of severe arthritis in both elbows and severe neuropathy in my feet ,immense swelling and discoloration! I was sent to two doctors in Parker AZ the first on was in a 30 yr old trailer with the name of the physician in red paint nailed to the trailer ! The second doctor grabbed my elbows like I was in a bar fight I jerked away and hollered at him he screamed like a game show host Yoooouuur. Fiiiiiiired! And I was refused service ! Been 6 months and 6 more appointments not a brace , a prescription, lotions not a shot not even a band aid I’m a 100 % Service Connected Veteran Disgusting Help me please! Now they won’t print because it’s a duplicate your guilty as the VA
I have heard bad things about AZ. That is a good place to be far away from.
I agree. And it is worse than you realize!
