Those that control space will control the earth.

Space was previously managed by the Air Force and they did a superb job. Let’s reflect:

There was once the Department of War which managed all ground based forces, primarily the United States Army. The Navy Department was separate. After the formation of the Air Force, the Army then had to reconstruct an air arm for its own fixed wing and rotary aircraft (now its a separate branch…sound familiar?). So, one force became two, plus the Navy Department.

Previous to that, we fought two world wars and won them with two principal Departments (organized for global war as a result of the War Powers Act of 1941). The Army with its independent arm the Army Air Corps (headed by JCS member Gen. Hap Arnold) was parallel to the Navy Department and its independent arm the Marine Corps.(gaining a seat on the JCS in 1978).

We now have EIGHT members on the JCS. We create complexity bureaucratically as if that is necessary because equipment is complex. We also create complexity in war execution because simplicity of execution is not bureaucratic enough to justify the tens of thousands of jobs the multi-headed Hydra called the Department of Defense demands…most of it simply bureaucratic overseers of paperwork.

In my humble opinion, we should have the Army, Air Force and Navy as independent arms of the military. Air (including space like before), Land and Sea are fully covered. That would also reduce the number of seats at the JCS to three service branches and concentrated power, unity of command, and control of resources far more streamlined.

As a final note: the more complex we have become the less effective at WINNING wars we have become. The parallel is too obvious…complex bureaucracies = not winning. COMPLEXITY is both our political as well as our military mantra.

Space Force is not necessary. We already have military personnel doing the job monitoring outer space.

    Think about having no satellites……
    The devastation this would cause……
If a Space Force can prevent this from happening, then it is necessary no matter the cost.

Yes we need all and much more measures for security from our foes foreign and domestic. Those other states and constantly trying to be a dominant government over others. Case in point Ukran

Who’s to say that we have not had a space force before the space station.

Space Force – that subject needs some boundaries put on the theme. What are the fears of protecting the USA boundaries – both on the ground and in the heavens; i. e – earthly and alien invasions/peoples? Space Force should be just that: protection from aliens – not those of this Earth.

However, if the theme is to provide a Space Force to aid in the protection of America and its Sovreign boundaries (USA and continental); it should be better defined.
