Dining Discounts for Veterans: Where to Save on Your Next Meal Out

Last Updated: June 17, 2025 25 Comments

veteran discount dining options

In honor of their dedicated service, many restaurants offer special discounts to US military veterans. Whether it’s a free cup of coffee, a discount off the total bill, or a complimentary meal on Veterans Day, these perks can help our heroes enjoy a nice meal out without breaking the bank. Let’s delve into the world of dining discounts available to veterans across the nation.

Casual Dining

  1. Applebee’s: This popular chain honors veterans and active-duty military with a free meal on Veterans Day from a special menu. To qualify, you’ll need to show proof of military service.
  2. Denny’s: Veterans get a free Build Your Own Grand Slam breakfast on Veterans Day at participating Denny’s locations. Remember to carry your valid military ID.
  3. Golden Corral: Golden Corral hosts a “Military Appreciation Night” offering free dinner to any person who has served in the US military.
  4. Red Robin: Red Robin offers a free Tavern Double Burger and Bottomless Steak Fries for veterans on Veterans Day.

Fast Food

  1. Subway: Some Subway locations offer a 10% discount to military veterans. However, it’s always a good idea to check with your local Subway as the discount may vary.
  2. Taco Bell: Participating Taco Bell locations offer a 10% discount to veterans with a valid military ID.
  3. Wendy’s: Many Wendy’s offer special discounts to veterans, but these can vary by location, so it’s best to ask.

Coffee and Treats

  1. Starbucks: Starbucks honors veterans, active-duty service members, and military spouses every Veterans Day with a free tall coffee.
  2. Krispy Kreme: Veterans and active-duty military personnel receive a free donut and coffee on Veterans Day.

Fine Dining

  1. McCormick & Schmick’s: This upscale seafood and steak chain offers a free meal to veterans on Veterans Day.
  2. Ruth’s Chris Steak House: Ruth’s Chris offers a 10% discount to veterans who present a valid military ID.

Pizza and Italian

  1. Little Caesars: Veterans and active military members can snag a free $5 HOT-N-READY Lunch Combo from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Veterans Day.
  2. Olive Garden: Olive Garden offers a free meal to veterans and active-duty military on Veterans Day.

Discounts Year-Round

While many discounts are available around Veterans Day, other eateries offer deals year-round.

  1. Outback Steakhouse: Outback offers a daily 10% military discount to active-duty and veterans (some areas have reported larger discounts on holidays).
  2. Texas Roadhouse: Select Texas Roadhouse locations offer a military discount during specified hours.

Conclusion

Remember, some restaurant discounts vary by location, so it’s always best to call ahead to ensure the deal is still valid at your chosen restaurant. Also, remember to bring your military or veteran ID or other proof of service when you go.

The next time you’re looking for a bite to eat, don’t forget about these discounts. Dining out is always enjoyable, but knowing you’re appreciated with a discount or a free meal makes the experience even sweeter.

From casual eateries to fine dining establishments, many restaurants recognize and honor our veterans’ service. So, get out there and enjoy a great meal while saving some money in the process. After all, you’ve earned it!

Glory days has a very generous military discount. Never had a Burger King give a discount. Dunkin Donuts is sketchy at best – appears they are moving away from all discounts.

They do in Ellijay, GA, which is where we love. Bufffalo Lukes, Bonjangles and KFC offer discounts too. You need to ask, and that doesn’t cost anything! 😊
